The Sideshow Collectible Wish List

Since Comic Con, I haven’t been able to get the Sideshow Collectible booth out of my mind. The display cases were awesome. The contents were equally impressive. Mix that with the $75 gift card for Sideshow I just received and I am ready for my next collectible. I have been searching the site for days now. Outside of the “sell outs” and the “available in 2012” items I keep hitting another wall. I keep thinking of things that don’t exist on the Sideshow site (or at all). This is not a knock against them. Licensing and likeness rights are probably key factors with collectability and public desire being two others. A film from over twenty years ago that doesn’t have a sequel, remake or prequel in the works isn’t going to have a Sideshow Collectible. Then again, a few that I have been looking for should. Here are a couple I hope they consider with my “Sideshow Collectible Wish List”.

5. Planet of the Apes (2001)

The Sideshow Collectible Toy Movie Wish List

All right so Burton’s version looks really bad next to Rupert Wyatt’s re-launch. Two things you cannot deny about Burton’s film are the make-up and Tim Roth’s performance. A Sideshow Collectible of Roth’s Thade is long over due. The intricate details of the hair in the figure alone would make me pick one up.

4. Enemy Mine (1985)

The Sideshow Collectible Toy Movie Wish List

This is a long shot but why not Willis Davidge and Jeriba 'Jerry' Shigan? They are from one of the most beloved sci-fi films of all time. As Sideshow Collectibles go they would be perfect for accessories and intricate details. I almost want a remake of this film so people would go back and discover it. Not to mention I would then get my toys.

3. Unbreakable (2000)

The Sideshow Collectible Toy Movie Wish List

I can’t believe there isn’t a David Dunn and Elijah Price Sideshow Collectible. Multiple accessories as well as a few choice variants (for the exclusive) of these characters and we would have Sideshow gold.

2. Tron (1982)

The Sideshow Collectible Toy Movie Wish List

Medicom Toy is releasing high end collectibles of Daft Punk from the new film through Sideshow (seen here). Why isn’t Disney re-partnering with Sideshow for a few of the classic characters? Flynn, Clu, and Tron are no brainers but what about Sark or even Ram?

1. Blade Runner (1982)

The Sideshow Collectible Toy Movie Wish List

I actually sent a written letter to Sideshow about this one several years ago. They asked me if I knew who had the licensing rights for the film. The company is called Warner Brothers and the director’s name is Ridley Scott. Dear Sideshow Collectibles, I believe these are all good places to start.

Am I just rambling or is there a point to this? Many companies do look at message boards and blogs for what the fans want. Post your wish list at the bottom and hopefully we can get something started.

I will have to admit, if you are an diehard movie memorabilia collector and don't have some of Sideshow's stuff gracing your display cases you truly are missing out. Their Star Wars Premium line alone is awesome...very pricey, but awesome none the less.

My wife collected the horror figures.  Then she took them to conventions and had them signed.  Her Jason from Friday the 13th Part 3 is signed by every actor to play Jason and his mother.  They really are amazing figures.

Two things I collect, comic books since I was about 10 and Sideshow Collectibles. No exaggeration I have over 300 Sideshow items. I started out collecting just the Marvel busts then branched to Premium format figures, then to everything Marvel, then to Star Wars premiums, then to Terminator, Darkman,Alien, then to........well you get what I mean. It became an obsession and now I have almost two rooms full of Sideshow boxes yet only display about 30 items. At the urging of the ol' lady I went cold turkey last year and even though they still call out to me I've managed not to order anything in about a year and a half

My prized items are the b&w Mummy which only had 50 made, Pumpkinhead 150 made, Grey Hulk vs Spidey. Ah heck they're all prized items. Could've made a down payment on a second house. I even considered buying an entire line of Bowen figures but the economy took a downturn and had better use for 30k not to mention that I prefer Sideshow much better.

have to admit that i would love to see side show do their magic on blade runner but besides trying to get the license from warners' one other obstacle would be the cost of Harrison fords likeness. enemy mine given how old the film is sadly  sideshow would wind up not being able to get their cost back from doing the stuff given the fan base for such a classic film. tron if nothing else side show could just work out something if a third tron film happens.

demonfire, they have had Ford' likeness in the past. Look at the Indiana Jones figures. Tron has a few things already...
