SILENT HILL movie announced

Director Christophe Gans (BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLF), producer Samuel Hadida and his production company Davis Films will turn Konami's survival horror video game SILENT HILL into a feature-length film. Konami announced plans for the movie today in Tokyo.

The Japanese video game maker will also be intricately involved in the design of the movie. Konami will be a creative partner in the production of the movie's screenplay as well as ensure that the picture's set design, character costumes, creatures and even the sound effects recreate the game's presentation.

The three SILENT HILL games have all taken place within the fog enshrounded town. Gamers play as a lone adventurer who returns to the town to explore deserted buildings and to discover what horrific nightmares now shamble down the streets. The third SILENT HILL game was released just last month on the PlayStation 2 and over four million copies in the franchise have been sold.
