Sooo looking forward to this!  I hope this one does well so the franchise can continue...Silent Hill was pretty spot on as far as FEELING like the games it was based on.

I loved the games and loved the first film.  Even got my daughter hooked on it.  But with this one being in 3D, I hope they do not make it Resident Evilish.  That would bad...Very bad.

Taking all bets now for the feature film time of Sean Bean's grisly demise and to how they kill him......

This looks pretty decent, but I never watched any of the Silent Hill movies before, are any of them worth watching?

The Silent Hill movies are what the Resident Evil movies should have been.  Silent Hill is very close to how the stories are in the Silent Hill games.   I would not say it is scarey. But rather creepy with a side of disturbing.

This doesn't look as visually "rich" as the last one. But, it could still be good. Does anyone know if this was shot in 3D or is it a 3D conversion?

 Centralia, PA anyone?

I have read the first film was heavly designed and inspired by Centralia. Was not aware that there was any filming going on there.

Principal photography began in Toronto, Canada on March 7, 2011 and wrapped in May 2011 with the 3D RED Epic camera used for the process. Street and bridge scenes were shot in Galt from March 21 to March 26 and scenes set at Silent Hill's Lakeside Amusement Park were filmed at the Cherry Beach park on April 7, 2011.

From Wiki

RED Epic cameras are amazing, 3D on this may warrant a 3D Imax viewing from me.

Looks like they are also using 3Ality's interocular mounting setup for their 3D Epic Red cameras, this is the same tech being used in the Hobbit.  To understand what that is check out the video from Peter Jackson by googling "3d epic red hobbit".

No, no filming. Anyone not familiar with that real-life story needs to check it out, if they have any Silent Hill appreciation.
