Simon Pegg for Star Wars?

Rumor Control

It seems as if today is going to be a Star Wars rumor day. Check out the Boba Fett one HERE. This rumor, however, would reunite JJ Abrams with a Star Trek cast member. IGN, not Latino Review, is reporting that Simon Pegg was in Abu Dhabi for the Episode VII shoot. Their sources are reporting that Pegg was there for a secret role.

This would contradict a statement that Pegg made previously about appearing in the new Star Wars movie. “I don’t think it would be appropriate for me to be in it, to be honest. I think J.J. should cast new faces with no stunt casting.”

What IGN doesn’t mention is that Pegg was cast as Dengar, the bounty hunter, in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Would this be a return of both the character and Pegg to the Star Wars universe? It would be great to see a connection from the cartoon series to the film. This would also mark the first time a voice actor, on the animated series would reprise his role in a Star Wars feature film. It has gone the other way with Liam Neeson, Anthony Daniels, Daniel Logan, and Peter Mayhew reprising film roles on the animated series.

Sound off below Maniacs! Pegg for a new role, or a quick cameo has Dengar drinking blue milk?

That would be cool but hard to take the character seriously.

Also. Wouldn't Dengar be...old?

He could be a long lived race like the Wookie's.

Or like Yoda.  I just realized I don't think I've ever heard what kind of race/species Yoda is...

THe discussion of Yoda's race was on another article. THe quick answer is it has never officilly been listed what his species is. Another member of the race has appeared in both KOTOR and again (as a hologram) in the Old Republic. Years ago I played the Star Wars Role Playing Game, and it mentioned that Yoda's race was a Whill. However, it was years ago and my memory may be faulty. At any rate there is no official confirmation what species Yoda is.

Yoda is a...............................................................................................................................Yoda.

BunyonSnipe 6/12/2014 12:55:46 PM

I think he may be another protocol droid...

Yoda's species is known as Whill.  Not like Will Wheaton, but Whill Wheaton, if I may quote Stewie.

Wasn't there a female member of Yoda's species on the Jedi Council in Phantom Menace?

Higgy 6/13/2014 11:49:19 AM

Yoda is not a Whill.  Whill's are a species that are like spirits of the force.  Lucas already confirmed that Yoda is not a Whill.  Yoda's species has not yet been identified.
