As the series' 24th season quickly approaches, Fox announces a new 3D short to be played in front of Ice Age: Continental Drift.
Since 2009, The Simpsons has been the longest-running primetime series in television history – but the show’s creators are now interested in setting a new benchmark.
Directed by David Silverman, a new short entitled “The Longest Daycare” is set to premiere in front of Ice Age: Continental Drift when the sequel opens nationwide on July 13.
Simpsons creator Matt Groening recently told Entertainment Weekly that the short was designed as a thank you to fans: "[The staff] just wanted to do this as a way of saying, 'We appreciate how much people have stayed with the show and watched it for 25 years'." Fox released a teaser trailer Tuesday for the short film, which was produced in 3D.
Watch the clip below. Look for “The Longest Daycare” only in theaters starting on July 13.
Dont know if this happened to anyone else, but this is how I got turned on to the Simpsons.
Went to the Movies, back in the 20th century, to see SpaceBalls or Summer School, and before the movie came on, the theater ran a Simpsons clip.....I thought it was the funnyest thing ever....that winter came the 1st Simpsons xmas special which is really the 1st Simpsons Episode.....
tell me about it , Higgy, lol , still can't frigging believe The Simpsons are still on.........but I like to think that every now and then, they still put out a funny episode or two....
I don't know why you people are hating on The Simpsons. In an age when shows come and go so quickly, they have lasted 25 years as an animated program. There would probably be no South Park, no Family Guy, no Futurama. It was one of the first animated programs that adults could get the jokes and still watch with their kids. Its a show that spans generations. I agree that it should get a curtain call, which is technically what I thought the feature film technically was.
