Sounds good ....

So they're going to take one of the most creative and respected storylines in the history of mainstream comics and treat it with the same fidelity that they used for First Class.  First Class was good as a movie but made a real mess of the comic continuity, as you all know.  I don't even think Days of Future past shold be attempted unless they split it into 2 films and have the real X-men characters (Cyke, Wolverine, Colossus et.al) in prominent parts.

you are so right reek,i can see the cover of dofp right now with kitty and wolveine standing in front of all the dead or captured heros...le sigh...would love to see it on the big screen done the way Uncanny X-Men #141,142 were written. it might be ok,who knows, first class was fun.

Wolverine was in it however...like he is in everything in comics.  Wonder if they will work him in again.

Considering Wolverine is currently in his own movie, this will not be faithful to the original story as I doubt they want to include Jackman in this. And recasting Wolverine for this will just mess up the continuity of this mucked up Singer X-universe even more since he made a came in FC.

This has disaster written all over it. Considering the majority of the mutants in the original storyline have been used in X2 and X3, I don't see how they could do this. Ok, I understand this is a movie adaptation and they are not close to the original source material but this one will stray away from it big time.  You are right Reek, , maybe they will fix the continuity nightmare it is now. They could have the current version of Mystique in the 60s, kill a very young Sen Rob Kelly. The result of that would be a "future" but not really a future. More like the future of 1963. So essentially, 2012. The assassination could eliminate the messed up stuff of X1 to X3. But, how do you use Fassbender and McAvoy? lots of makeup? Not only that but it still won't explain the 40 year difference between "brothers" Scott and Alex. :(

I would rather see Marve//Disney do an animated feature like WB/DC is doing with Dark Knight Returns.

During production of the film, Fox/Singer will come out and say "crap, we have enough footage for two movies so we're splitting Days of Future Past into two movies"

If there is an X-Men story with Wolverine in it that's being made into a movie then I'm pretty sure Hugh Jackman will be in it, he's obvioulsy willing to play the character whenever they have a story for him and it's not like he has a ton of other big franchises to be busy with.  I hate to say it but at his age there aren't going to be a ton of tentpole action movies coming his way as much as even 5 years ago so if he's smart he'll jump to play the character as often as possible.  With The Wolverine already filming, and this still in the pre-stages he might just walk from set to set!

I never read the Days of Future Past storyline but I was well aware of it and now I think I'll hunt it down, it sounds pretty awesome!  I have faith in Vaughn and team, they haven't let me down yet!

I appreciate your optimism, wish, my friend...sadly I don't share it.  Going with the movie conntinuity they have chosen, I don't see how they could make it make sense in any way.  I didn't mind First Class as much as others, and I was able to subdue my fanboy nitpicking about it not being the REAL first class, but with a specific story like this one...I just don't know.  Ah well, I'll do what I usually do about everything in life - expect the worst, but hope for the best.

I think they might actually include some of the other mutants from the other movies. After all he did say that they were going to try to bring in some connectivity with the other movies in the franchise. This could be interesting

Yeah I mean it was a cameo in the last but I can't see why he wouldn't appear as Kitty's mentor in the future and be there for the iconic Sentinal blast.  Wouldn't require too much filming for Jackman.

As for the film.  I went into First Class with an open mind and walked out enjoying it.  Have since watched it a few times on Netflix.  Havok is one of my favorite comic mutants (2nd brother syndrome) and I was highly dissapointed in how he was depicted powers wise in the film the suit kinda fixed it but not really.  But I look forward to this franchise going forward.  A young Magneto, a young Charles.  Makes for better tales.

And I can live with the changes.  I am Pro comic book movies.  As long as they don't tank and kill a potential franchise.  Looking at you Man of Steel.
