Well, maybe it's like this:  They figured that the comic fans will always be comic fans whether they are movie fans or not, but movie fans, who aren't comic fans, may want to see and enjoy these characters too!

They make comic book movies for movie fans, in some rare cases they manage to please both.  I personally try really hard to not look at myself and people I work with and socialize with as a large percentage of the population, we all do it though.  But the truth is that the movie fans greatly, hugely out number the comic book fans, which is going to result in a lot of pissed off comic book/movie fans when they see the movies that don't verbatim the comics.  I know it sucks, I've been there too, I actually really hope someday to see some really faithful comic to movie adaptations, we all know how seriously awesome that would be for some comic franchises!!  In the meantime I'm gonna enjoy as much as I can, and that certainly includes this current X-Men series, which I won't call a reboot, but a prequel instead........with a dash of ignorance......just a dash......which I'll gladly accept when it's this good!

Magneto's Brotherhood of Mutant's not Mystique's.  just saying.

Okay great story, one of my favorites.  This should be awesome!!!

Yeah, but even some of the comic book adaptations nowadays are getting fuzzy...look at Avengers - not at all verbatim to the comics, classic or otherwise, but adapted as closely and as faithfully under the circumstances and it totally worked beyond anyone's imaginations.  The X-movies seem to have devolved into Mutant casserole.

Oh and no wolverine in this will be dumb.

I agree with you Caveman.  It doesn't have to be the same.  It's a new version of the story and I am fine with that.  Just love Wolvie is all.

Sarcastic, Wish, and others you all make good points. Since the Raimi Spider-Mans and the Marvel movies, the superhero moviemaking routine is to be even more faithful to the original comic  than before, even down to the actual costumes. When the X-men movie came out it was thought audiences would think it really silly. Singer also chose to think of it as a science fiction movie rather than a  superhero movie. I suspect that if they ever re-boot it it will instead be much more the comic book than they have done, But as I said, as far as the studio is concerned if it ain't broke don't fix.

True enough, monkeyfoot.  I'm just waiting for the third movie - watch, they'll have Mr. Sinister as the villain, and call it "Age of Apocalypse".

Monkeyfoot- ur missing the point buddy. It IS broken and does need to be fixed. Of course any xmen movie will make a good amount of doe because it's the Xmen. Hell people will go see it if Schumacher himself directed it. What were saying is that it can be SOOO much better and truer to the source and make a gajillion dollars like the Avengers did and have fanboys wanna watch it 10 times in the theaters like we all did for Avengers. There's no way I would have paid twice to see ANY of the xmen movies that have come out.
