Singer Directs X-Men: Days of Future Past

The original director of the first returns!

By Robert T. Trate     October 31, 2012
Source: Entertainment Weekly

Entertainment Weekly has announced that Bryan Singer (Superman Returns, The Usual Suspects) will return to the franchise he started. After Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass) left the follow up to X-Men: First Class many suspected that producer Bryan Singer would step into the director’s chair. They were right.

Matthew Vaughn, who left the project for undisclosed reasons, will step have a producer and screenwriter credit on X-Men: Days of Future Past

Days of Future Past is nominally a sequel to that film, which starred James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence as younger versions of Prof. X, Magneto, and Mystique, respectively — and all three actors are expected to return for Days of Future Past”. - EW

Given that this is a time travel movie, the likelihood of seeing characters/ actors from Singer’s original X-Men movies is highly likely.

X-Men: Days of Future Past has a release date of July 18th, 2014.

Thanks to Chopsaki for the submission.

It's about time the X-Men movies showed some real ambition. I've enjoyed them, and most of them have been good, but I think like many others, I've been waiting for that X-Movie that really embraced the scope and epicness of the comics. Though this was in the works since before Avengers was released, I'm sure that Fox and Singer are encouraged by the reception it received.

Great... the same dude who forbids anyone screw w/ his timeline and stories...... but hey! Disney bought Star Wars!! WOO HOO!!!

Yeah, real ambition to totally ignore the comics and ignore the Marvel Universe. Crash and burn please. Give the rights back to Marvel. Re-boot the movies. Go back to the start with a real first class, move onto introducing the second group of X-Men with Storm, Wolverine and who ever else they want, then move onto to do Age of Apocalypse. Nuff said. Singer is a d-bag when it comes to the X-Men and he has not made a great movie since the Usual Suspects. That movie is still a work of genius. Singer should stick to crime noire movies

EDIT: Why can we still not edit comments? WHY??????? >:( I have been at this website for over 5 years and still no edit comments function. SO LAME.

If not Vaughn, Singer is the only one I'd want to do this ambitous film. Hopefully, he has learned lessons on a proper X-movie from my most beloved 1st Class film.

copy, delete, paste, edit.  it's probably not a priority for them to implement an edit function but it's a good idea, we all feel that frustration from time to time.

I think this is good news, First Class was a step in the right direction and this could have fallen into the wrong hands.  It's a shame that some of you won't get to enjoy this like a lot of us have, and it's understandable given the changes that have been made in the leap to the big screen.  I like Singer and I think he will make a good film to follow up First Class.  Fingers crossed anyway.

oh come on, besides Magneto, 1st class had some of the  weakest action scenes i've ever seen. Ghost Rider had better action scenes than that. LOL

Say what Violator? Don't even try to compare First Class with Ghost Rider. Sorry, but 1st Class beats the crap out of most of the Marvel movies, barring Avengers and Iron Man. Everyone needs to stop being such elitist fanboys and realize that First Class was a step in the right direction. I think The Wolverine will as well as I am sure it will link that movie in with Days of the Future Past. Give Millar a chance to set his mark with Fox and stay postitive people!

axia777 10/31/2012 10:37:22 AM

No, First Class is NOT a step in the right direction. The step in the right direction is to forget the X-Men movies. Forget they ever happened. Forget the Wolverine movies. Forget it all.  Sorry but they can all go to hell in a hand basket.

Give the X-Men a real chance like the Avengers got becaue next to the Avengers every X-Men movie is crap.

1st Class is legit and I agree better than most of the Marvel flicks.  But fuck Fox, there must be a reason peeps be dropping out.  Aronofsky, Vaughn, Wyatt all out.

rogue188 10/31/2012 10:57:19 AM

Guess what, Fox is not losing the license. We can't forget the movies that are still being made. As bitter as you want to be about it, its here to stay. It also seems like Marvel is trying to get them on a proper course. If you don't want to see it, don't watch.
