Six More for Supernatural STONE HOUSE

If you like John Carpenter's THE THING, you may be interested in this little talked about upcoming supernatural, THE STONE HOUSE. Ryan Rotten at Shock Till You Drop has revealed six more casting additions for the film. Brendan Miller, Shane West (The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen), Aldis Hodge ("Friday Night Lights"), Leonard Roberts ("Heroes"), Theo Rossi (1-18-08) and Noel Gugliemi (Evilution) have all joined the cast of the supernatural thriller which filmmakers describe as a spin to The Thing's story from Carpenter. While visiting the set of the film last month, Ryan had a chance to talk about where the story spawned from..

"They were talking about all of these 1,000-year-old artifacts that had been broken, stolen or had gone unaccounted for. It just seemed like a great idea to do something supernatural. We're so ignorant of the culture we don't know what museums to protect and don't know about the supernatural mythology of that region. We're over there messing things we don't know about. So, the basic story here is these soldiers destroy this statue out of boredom and the next day they get a visitor."

THE STONE HOUSE will hit theaters sometime in 2008.

Great Jarrod...it's bad enough when posters tell us all were dumb for not liking this or that...now you're doing it! Sheesh! ;-) Ok, I have to agree with you on Carpenter's "The Thing;" you'd have to be daft not to like that movie.

I'm not crazy about the cst for this, but it might make a good renter.

I'm not quite sure from the description. Is this meant to be a direct sequel to Carpenter's The Thing or a supernatural thriller with similar elements?
Just a moment...just a moment...
Well I actually went to the link and it's the supernatural element. I like the basic idea of this. It sounds pretty interesting.
Carpenter's Thing is pretty good but I actually like the 1951 version better. Yes, it is barely based on the original story and the monster is a carrot man played by James Arness, but not only did it scare the bejesus out of me as a kid (to this day I have no bejesus left), looking at it now, it is a fantasically well-done film.
Ghost directed by Howard Hawks it sets up great tension and fear in a scenario that was borrowed into Ridley Scott's Alien. But the best part of all is the script. It is filled with snappy dialogue with characters talking over each other that is clever and realistic at the same time.
Plus, it has the best spooky 50's music ever.

Come on.....everyone knows the best horror film made in the last few years was Feast,,,,,all horor movies should be made like that. I really did love Feast, but the Thing is also an amazing movie....what ever happened to JC? (Not the magician wo turned water into wine, the horror master). He used to make such good flicks,,,his last few,,,not so much.....I guess that happens.....I love suspense, super-natural movies,,,so ill check it out.

My body still twitches when I think of the "thing" from The Thing - bodily deformation just creeps me out. And yet, I'm a sucker for horror films.

And if you're a little confused by the quote above, culture and museums thereof is referring to those in Iraq.
