I'm one of the newer writers here at Cinescape/Mania. I've been a freelance writer for the past six years and a filmmaker for about the same amount of time. Being a huge scifi/horror fan you'd think I make those kinds of movies but I don't. I actually make documentary films. My first documentary feature however, is within the trappings of the genre because it is about fandom. The film called Fans and Freaks: The culture of Comics and Conventions is about all of us. It played better than I expected at festivals, has had one distribution deal and is in the process of getting a new one. The film is available online to at www.captain-pixel.com
I tend to gravitate toward the edgier stuff in my genre films. I'm more Devil's Rejects than Final Destination if you know what I mean. I grew up a big fan of Italian horror, particularly the films of Dario Argento, and I still favor those films today. I'm also a big fan of 70's horror with a particular interest in the different types of exploitation film.
As for scifi, of course I love the Star Wars films and the Star Trek films, but I also enjoy some of the campier classics such as Ice Pirates and Krull (which is probably more of a hybrid between scifi and fantasy).
For TV I like serialized series that have a long sotry arc. I need that to bring me back each week. So, as you would expect I am hooked on LOST and 24. There are several of these kinds of series on TV now so I stay more busy now than I have in quite some time.
SUPERNATURAL didn't make the years 10 best, but V did????????
