No violator you're not the only that really liked DD, quite a few people I know including myself really dug the film. Some cgi  parts weren't great, Garner's big ass forehead was too distracting to be Elektra and Affleck is better suited to be a director as we all now know. Everything else was fine as far as I'm concerned

Violator, my friend, you're not the only one who really liked the first DD!  I especially liked the director's cut, which contained footage that should never have been cut from the movie, but was done so by the producer, Gary Foster (who's a classic studio-type mentality overlooking the importance of certain scenes that could enhance a movie).  I also liked Ben Affleck a lot as DD, although I admit they could've casted someone else who looked more the part.  I especially liked the scenes where he's by himself in his apartment because we see the lonliness of his soul, which added a strong sense of pathos to his character.

Other articles I read stated this wasn't a reboot but a continuation of the story with new actors.  The first one wasn't totally horrible but Affleck just didn't quite do it for me. I'm probably in the minority but I thought Michael Clarke Duncan did fine as Kingpin. (Yes, not revealing him until the third movie would have been bettter...)

I'm with you guys who liked the first one...sure it had flaws, the park courting/fight being the low point, but there was more than enough to salvage it.  And the directors cut adds a little more darkness to it.  Plus, I think the movie got caught up in the anti-Ben Affleck backlash that was just starting up.

DD is my fave Marvel character, although I wasn't thrilled with the whole Shadowland thing, and I'm looking forward to this.  I thought at the time Guy Pearce would have made a great DD, he had the lean muscular build, but he's too old now.  NOT casting the current Tiger Beat It Boy would be a good place to start...

Altough not bad in the movie, I thought Jennifer Garner wasn't the best casting choice to play Electra.  She's just too "girl-next-door" type of personality to play a sensual character like that.  Michael Clarke Duncan was fine as the Kingpin and I loved Jon Favreau as Murdock's close friend and legal partner, Franklin Nelson.  BTW, Favreau is as good an actor as he is a director!  As mentioned before, the scenes of lonliness in his apartment as well as the blind scenes done by Affleck were very well done and I think he deserves a lot of credit for that.

Shame! He's such great character, but I reckon marvel would do it better! But they way super hero movies are so hot at the moment, there's no way a studio wants to lose the rights. Stand by for Fantastic Four news in the near future : ), doubt they'll bother with elektra though.

Joyer3215, you've made an excellent point about the movie being caught up in the anti-Affeck backlash that he was going through, due in no small part to the insanely, excessive attention his engagement (and then break up) with J-LO received!  Believe it or not, I had actually made this point a long time ago on another thread after I saw that so many were so down on DD and Affleck.  I think there may be too many who still view Affleck's role as DD through that lens.  I find that very unfair because regardless of whether or not one thinks he was 100% suited for the role or not, IMO his acting wasn't terrible and especially for the reasons that I've already given above.

Allow me to add my voice as another Maniac who liked the first movie.  The Director's Cut is even better, though I found it odd that they made it R with the original being PG-13 (in my mind they should be reversed).  Agree with others that the park scene was just horrible, but otherwise I enjoyed the movie a great deal.  Born Again is a fantastic story, so I'm excited to see they're going with that one!

I have my ideas summarized and posted on the Internet movie Database and the Daredevil site talking about the movies. I hope they will go with my ideas. This could make is more comic book accurate and maybe the DD reboot will have sequels.

It should've been this mob boss who ordered the murder of Jack Murdock chased by Daredevil in the sub way instead of someone working for the Kingpin. Also the Kingpin was working for the Fixer in the Daredevil film and the Fixer had a different real name and many of us could assume that in the Daredevil movie the Kingpin in this time not shown killed the Fixer and then became the Kingpin.

I liked the first one, it had it's bad moments, but otherwise it was okay. Chris Pine would be good to play DD, but I don't see that happening. It would be better to have someone who's not as well known to play that role. Kingpin....that's a tough one. MCD was good for that movie, but I don't see them going back that way...I say put a fat suit on someone and let them be the Kingpin. A fat suit did wonders for Tom Cruise...just saying.
