Slayers Try Treasury BGM 2
Background music from the Slayers Try TV series.

There are some interesting things in this CD’s little insert that mirror the first CD. It comes with the standard Song title list, English lyrics tot he few vocal songs, and typical credits for the CD as well as the show, however that is where the typical insert stops and the fun begins. Four pages into the eleven-page insert you are introduced to “The Musical World of Slayers Try-Music Menu”. This menu was the menu used by the director to the composer in order to determine what type of music would be needed for each scene. The Menu lists the scene in which the song will be used, and a brief description by the director of what type of music should be used for that scene. Some also give a detailed description of the character feelings in that moment in order to further the mood of the music. Going back to the song title list on the first page, each song has a corresponding number after it that matches the Music Menu, so you can go back and forth and find out the motivation for each song. Quite an interesting view on how the Slayers music came about, and definitely worth the time to look back and forth between pages. There is also an added bonus of a break down of all the songs found on the vocal collection, and what the motivations were for those songs as well.

This CD matches the first BGM as musically it is everything it advertises itself to be on the front cover. It is purely background music. From a listening standpoint it really isn’t as much of a grab you and take you places kind of CD, not like say the vocal collections are, but, it does have it’s good points. This CD is what I would call the darker side of slayers. Most of the songs are melancholy musicals that tug gently at the heart-strings, and even the more upbeat songs have an eerie almost sinister quality to them. This is also the CD that features more of the music associated with the villians, and therefore has a darker undertone to it. Of the two BGMs, which do I like best, tough choice, but I’d have to say that based souly on the musical content, this one has more of a range of emotions running through it that the first one, so it would be BGM 2. The two English songs are interesting to say the least. I’m still not quite sure if I like them or if they get on my nerves, but they definetly made a mark on me.
Quietly makes it’s mark on the musical mind. But definitely keep it in the background

Fangboy says…Darker than Slayers is used to, but it kept me interested. The CD insert though makes up for what the music itself lacks on this one too.
