Please, make it stop! They're ruining one of my childhood favorites. Granted the Sleestaks look cool, but the plot is all wrong. And Will Ferrell is a disgrace, not the character he plays.

I agree, why go the comedy route? Look what happened with Will Ferrell and Bewitched and here we go doing another remake.

This would have been a cool SERIOUS remake of the original show.

Hell, I'd even would have been happy if it was a TV movie or Sci-Fi mini-series.

Unless Ferrell pulls an amazing performance out of his butt this movie is going to sink faster than the Titanic ( the real ship, not the movie).

I would have loved for them to do a serious movie based on Land of the Lost, but how could they? They would almost have to do a series of movies to touch on some of the great plot points of the original, and that would never happen. The original series had great SF writers. For many of us, it was our first introduction to serious, thoughtful, SF. Not to mention introductions to Culthu-esque or Sitchin-esque mythologies: ancient races, time-travel, prot-humans, mystical/technological temples. But, I was into that sort of thing, and not many children were. For most people, it was just a Saturday morning show with really bad special affects.

Hey what you don't know is Ferrell will be playing Chaka.

The Sleestaks look perfect! I have hope. I don't have high hopes, but I have a little. I'm hoping they don't go the straight comedy route, but they probably will. I usually can only handle Ferrell in small doses, like in Wedding Crashers ("MA! MEATLOAF!"), but there are a few exceptions. Talladega Nights being one. He was very good in Stranger Than Fiction, too. That wasn't a straight comedy role, either. He can do a serious role with funny moments. That's what they should do with this.

Remember when Ferrell played Federal Wildlife Marshal Willenholly in "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back?" Will Ferrell is a big fan of the original series and I do believe that he is sensitive to the fan's expectations. It's a tribute more than a remake.

I believe that an action-comedy is probably the best route to go with this, while maintaining the fun look of the original. The proof is in the Sleestak's classic look from the 70's. Seriously, who didn't laugh at the Sleestak crossbows in the original show? They couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. Much like "Galaxy Quest" this movie could be both serious and funny at the same time.

LittleNell, I totally agree. With SF writer David Gerrold as story editor, it was a kid's show that far exceeded itself for Saturday morning TV with great storylines that ran during his run on the show. It will be a shame to silly it up because of Ferrell's inclusion.
Hey, I wonder if that's former Detroit Piston player and current Detroit Shock coach Bill Laimbeer reprising his Sleestak role from the original series run :)

The Sleestaks look, basically, the same. I never saw "BEWITCHED", so I don't know where that went wrong. I can say that, before the movie "tanked", I thought he was a good choice for the role. I suspect, it went wrong where a lot of movies falter...execution and/or story. Again, I can't see where he couldn't work in this film. I always felt the show had some funny/cheesy moments and could never take it THAT serious. If the "perm" fits, let him wear it.

The Sleestaks look cool, but there's no way I'm going to see this until it comes on HBO because of Ferrell. I don't mind them making the movie a comedy, but I've never found Ferrell's schtick funny for more than five minutes and I'll have to pass.

The problem with it is Will Ferrell. He could screw up any movie. He is the sickiest suck that ever sucked a suck. Can you tell that I do not like the guy. You would think that he had remade other childhood favs and messed them up. oh wait, he has, Bewitched. He mad a mockery of news ancors and Basketball. Hell, if he had been in Austin powers any longer we would have to blame him for that move sucking.
