Rodek, why in the world would you think just because he puts on the suit that's the end of the show? That's very narrow-minded. You could have still called the show Smallville 4 years ago, and he could have already founded the JLA by now if that's the direction they wanted.

Clearly there's enough people frustrated by the suit teases, they could have done it. I'm not even saying they should have, but they easily could have. Shows evolve from the original premise all the time. No shame in that.

If you want to keep it pre-Superman because that's what the show how the show was coinceived, why are you buying there's a huge city called Metropolis in Kansas when clearly Metropolis is supposed to be on the northern eastern seaboard.

The character Superman has evolved since 1939, the show could too if it wanted. Don't get hung up on the original premise.

Bryzarro, again, even if Clark didn't shoot anyone, it's sloppy direction to film it in a way that we're having this conversation. Again, I only saw on tv once and online a couple times, but I can't see for certain one way or another, and that to me is just as bad as if he did kill someone, because it's just crappy storytelling. Don't film from an angle that confuses the majority of your audience.

Here's my thoughts on this arguement , 1 anyone who is a fan of Superman (comics) is very familiar with one thing and one main thing and thats bad writing , so when a tv series comes along and changes the mythology right off the bat, then im not sure what you are upset about, everything Superman, has been plagued by the samething that has plagued every single movie, what do you do with a character like Superman, the Big Blue Boyscout . So I ask this again, if you hate the show fine, but please someone show me one series that has been around for 10 years that hasnt fallen, mis stepped or down right sucked. Im sorry I cant hear you? !!!!  cause every series Ive ever watched has done it.  What people forget is that at no point in time did they say this is following the comics lore EVER,  so to be pissed at that is IDK dumb, Bad writing is Bad writing and there is major faults with this episode ABSOLUTELY, there was something missing with the BLUE K. OK YOUR RIGHT!!!,  but I still think you miss the object of the episode, which I maintain is LIL LEX and Tess and the fact that these crappy writers started some thing two years ago that is paying off at the end of the series. thats just one of the instances that the writing has been better then one thought. I think for most parts the writing has been good and at other times it has fallen , but at the same time they never had to jump the shark , like so many other series out there and more importantly that have been repectful of the characters and  have taken the show to many cool place then i could have hoped for, JSA, Checkmate, Suicide Squad, Doomsday, JL, and now Darkseid. Who ten seasons ago would have dreamed that they would bring you all this with out a whole lot of CHEESE. OH yeah and really do I need to be reminded every episode that Darkseid is out there , no its called suspense, foreboding, we want to build up to something, and I think they learned with Doomsday, After 10 seasons of  this , both ups and downs we have stayed here not because we like to pick the episodes apart but because we love something about the show , or maybe so we can see Clark put on the Cape and fly across The Daily Planet and some one say

LOOK UP IN THE SKY !!!!!!,  IT'S A BIRD !!!!! , ITS A PLANE !!! NO !!!! ITS SUPERMAN !!!!!!!!!!!!

What if Tess IS Lex Luthor?  That would explain why nobody ever saw Tess and Lex in the same room together.  He had a sex change!  That'd be frikkin' SWEET!

And while we're at it, maybe Clark fired a shotgun shell made of Blue K.  Then it would actually heal whoever it hit rather than kill them.

How awful are those ideas.... maybe I can get a job as a Smallville writer.

Bad episode except for the interaction between Lois and Clark.

Locolobo, yes, we do need to be reminded that Darkseid is out there. Not for 30 minutes every episode, but at least a mention of a glance or a hint almost every episode. Not showing much, but never letting the audience there is a genuine threat lurking, and we don't know when it's going to strike. THAT is called suspense.

I concur that Superman/Clark is a tough character to write, and to do it for 10 years would be tough. That said, and I've said it way too often, they make too many fixable mistakes here.

Yes, most shows that have been on for 10 years have gone through less than stellar times, but in the past two seasons at least (since I'm really only qualified to speak to those) have been riddled with the mistakes I mentioned. And the Lil Lex plot was the B plot. It was not the most important part of the episode, though it will be more important to the overall arc. Since it was just the B plot, and since the A plot was so convoluted and embarrassingly flwaed I felt my grade of C- was generous.

millean, I'd give you the gig. You couldn't do worse with those ideas.

wessmith, agree, but it terms of the total package, it was a pretty small percentage of the show.

heh, I spelled "flawed" "flwaed" how ironic.

i'd just like to add, i in no way give teh smallville writers credit with the whole lex and tess story.  even if it turns out to be a good story, i VERY much doubt they planned this out years in advance.  NOTHING they've ever done has shown them capable of thinking, and I cannot be convinced they magically started now.  As with everything in this show, I think it's a last second hail mary to attempt to wrap up the show

Bryzarro 11/3/2010 6:30:17 AM

@Joe  Really.....Camera angles.  So thats where these complaints are going now.  Well I have nothing I can say about that.  To each their own.

And what why not bring up why Clark didn't have a concussion after getting clocked by the deputy while we're digging for more continuity problems.

Bryzarro 11/3/2010 6:31:52 AM

Oh and one other point.  It's not narrow minded to say the show would be over once he puts on the suit.  Reason being again that is the whole goal of the series.  The build up of Clark into the hero Superman.  Once he is Superman no more Smallville.  Which is why they floated the spin off show Metropolis a while back.

It was OK, not terrible but not great. As someone late to the game, I really wish the series wasn't coming to an end and that they had gone ahead with the Gotham series concept, which I think could have been amazing and much darker.

Imo, it seems this episode was really about Lil Lex and Tess, while the Lois and Clark interaction was secondary. Yes, it could have been better, but hopefully this will serve as a softball to set up coming episode(s).

Am I the only one still holding out for a return by Rosenbaum? Just started rewatching the series on HDNet when it re-cycled a couple weeks ago, and he really was great. Seems like it would be damn easy to do with the rapidly aging clone business.
