Right there with ya, Ponyboy, on the missing Jr. JLA.  I've seen that kid that plays Impulse doing other roles.  I think he's in the new Elm Street remake.  Even though that's done filming, he might have gotten something else.  Still, Aquaman, Impulse, Cyborg and Canary should have been brought in.  At least Ollie referred to sending e-mails to Canary, but where was everyone else?  I know Canary's on SGU, but both shows film near enough to one another that she could do a quick cameo.

I like that they finally revealed that Lex is still alive even though we all pretty much knew there was no way they'd completely kill off Lex.  And it would have been nice to have had Icicle have at least one other villian helping him to warrant the big team-up.

Hopefully, this all leads to return appearances by these guys and perhaps a spin-off JLA show either at the same time as season 10 or after season 10.  It'd be cool to have these two shows running back-to-back (like Buffy and Angel did for a little while) on Friday nights.

POSSIBLE SPOILER FOR NEXT WEEK>>>>>>

At least next week we get that hot-ass chick who played Zatanna returning to the show, plus we get Lois dressed up as Wonder Woman!

I think B- was being a little nice. I hate the lack of action in this show. Its there 6 super heros in this episode and there was almost excitment. No GL and Flash, hell seeing Wildcat  duke it out with someone would have been cool. The best part of the show was when Hawkman slammed GA into the table. I guess I expect too much from the CW these days. Too much drama and not enough comic book.

Jensen Ackles for Captain America!!!

And...didn't they use that scene with superman's flapping cape once in this show already, i am sure they have, can anyone confirm or correct....?

I think the CG cape has been used at least once.  I commented on it in an earlier post.  But I think it has been used then on one other ocassion.

I have to give Absolute Justice an A-/B. Loved seeing the JSA but I have to nitpick a few things.

First of all, have icicle Jr the main villain was a bad choice. I think a team of meta-villains would have been a better choice of adversary in that it would have forced the JSA and Clark and GA to work more as a team and show more of their fighting abilities. In true Smallville fashion, the climactic showdown between heroes and villain was a let down. It didn't last long and left me with this feeling of being cheated
out of what could have been a super battle in true comic book fashion.

Also, agree with the whole Michael Shanks/Christian Bale-style voice. It sounded cheesy and forced. Could have done without the cheesy superhero epithets, and yeah, I also agree that Shanks should have bulked up a little more for the role.

I'm also disappointed that Dr. Fate was taken out so easily. How could a powerful Lord of Order be taken out by such a cheap shot??

"Oh, by the way, I'm pretty sure that the "coming apocalypse" that Waller mentioned was referring to Zod's conquest of Earth.

It was cool to see Jon get his powers back and seeing him use more of his abilites while fighting Icicle.

I was also surprised by the fact that Lex hasn't been written out of Smallville. You can't tell the story of Superman without Lex Luther. Now that I think about it, I wonder if  Waller has Lex hidden away as a member of Checkmate, and we see Lex return wearing his green and purple battle suit. That would be cool!

On the plus side, I'm happy to see that Smallville is incorporating more DCU characters into it's mythology. Stiil hoping for a two JLA episode where we'll see the JLA make it's appearance as a full roster team-Clark/Superman, Jon Jonzz, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Aqauman,Cyborg,Impulse,
Zatanna, and Stargirl. By this time Watchtower will be a more hi-tech headquaters with a large table with the JLA emblem in the middle.

Overall, I enjoyed it, and hope that Smallville will spawn a JLA spin off.

Phil Morris aka John/MM coat is very dark blue..... NOT BLACK ! Now having his famous colors under it is just a great touch like i saidt

I guess everyone missed the part about Oliver and the Canary's emails back and forth "love letters" glad they are developing that relationship like the comics since they have the hots for each other.

No big deal about Hawkmans voice who cares? He's a badass he has to have a rough voice haha.

Doctor Fate dying? So what ? For what he did it was awesome.. They still have the helmet.... someone else can step up and become the next doctor fate.. just like Hal Jordan becomes the next Green Lantern and Bart Impulse/Flash.

The Cg cape ws used but so what? LOL cant exactly show Tom as superman to spoil it for later !

Anyway A Justice League spin off would be incrediable.. Can always have Tom Welling as Clark/Sups make special appearances every now and then but not too often.

I dunno i guess i just enjoy this show more then often, by season 10 and yes there will be one mark my words.. Clark will have his tradional superman colors im sure and then they can wrap things up.

Zod's freakin awesome tho this season, everyone was dreading having Zod again but Callum Blue is perfect his voice very "terrance stamp" and he's not full fledged General but you can see that Ruthless snarl i cant wait for things to come.

The "work in progress" lol name soon to be JLA will be into a nice battle soon !

Yes Zatanna is back next week, spoiler alert :

Clark (Tom Welling) meets Zatanna (guest star Serinda Swan) at a comic book convention, where she tells him her father charmed a copy of the comic book “Warrior Angel” and it holds magical powers. A young man named Stephen (guest star Carlo Marks) steals the comic book and develops super powers, transforming himself into Warrior Angel and saving Chloe (Allison Mack) from a horrible accident.

But apparently he becomes obsessed and turns baddddddddd so looks like a job for superman to kick his butt =)

I was let down with this, while I did enjoy the Hawkman.  And the commercials...my god, did we actually get and hour and 15 minutes worth of Smallville and how silly did Clark look in both his suit and then his jacket?  Come on man.  And the big battle at the end?  Really?  It actually took all of them to beat a juvenile pop cicle?

But it was done the best it could considering it being on tv.

B- for me.

I think it was an A especially for Smallville...

I agree the villain was weak "Icecicle? really" BUT all in all it wa much better than I expected.

I didn't mind the plastic looking armor too much, had time to get used to it through the photos released early on.

I haven't been watching Smallville since season 4, but this has piqued my interest.

I LOVED when Dr. Fate showed Clark his fate, and we got a glimpse of the cape.

The only voice that bothered me was GA's voice, (and the sunglasses at night, just wear a damn mask) but I love GA, and really like this interpretation of him.

I liked getting a glimpse of MM true martian form.

Could have used a bit more action, and I was dissapointed we didn't get to see Alan scott GL or wildcat...maybe next time.

This was probably the best episode of Smallville I've ever seen, really enjoyed it.

Joe, Sylvester Pembleton did recieve the cosmic rod from Ted Knight for a while, but he was never a Starman... at least not to my knoweledge

gauleyboy420 2/7/2010 8:37:13 PM

OH YEAH!

This was better than the last two seasons of Heroes put together...

AND

I think it is Apocolips...DARKSIED!!!!

DeathScythe 2/7/2010 9:35:40 PM

According to Geoff Johns twitter, it was indeed spelt Apokolips in the script.
