My point was that this show has always used Kryptonite, it seems to be in ample supply. That being said, any average person can take Clark down at any moment. I count one time Clark ever over came Kryptonite on his own, with out someone's help. Look at last week. Hi Clark, i have a gun with green bullets. Fall to your knees you punk ass. I win.
 

gopher, you're absolutely right. It happens so often I don't even feel the need to point it out in my reviews anymore because for the first dozen articles I wrote I think I harped on it non-stop.

Superman is a very difficult character to write because he is so powerful. He's vulnerable to magic and Kryptonite... after that he's not too far from a god. The trick is to make him vulnerable without either of those elements. His loyalty and friendship is one way to exploit him, and there are a few other ways, but those avenues take effort on the part of the writers, and we all know if they can't write the entire script on their lunch hour then the director will just film what was written. It's much easier to whip out Kryptonite from behind your non-lead-lined back, and make him whimper like a beaten lamb than to create plausible scenarios for an almighty being to be defeated - so let's just be lazy. It's the Smallville way.

BTW Joe, thank you for taking the time to respond.  It is nice to have conversations about this show.  I see it as a way of venting.  Most of us want to love this show, because of the potential it has.  But most of us feel disappointed on a weekly basis.  Keep up the good work.

You know, this is Smallville.  I wouldn't put it past the writers to kill Clark in the finale and leave him that way.  How mad would all of us be then?

But they will probably go the more predictable route and have Darkseid posses Lexor (Lex/Connor) and then sacrifice himself at the end.  So I say both Joe and xpal will be correct.

I could see the producers going either the "Lex gets possessed by Darkseid" or "Lex joins forces with Clark to stop Darkseid" route.  Not so sure about the sacrifice of Lex.  They've shown that in the future, Lex is alive and well so that would be a HUGE continuity f#@k up on their part.  But you never know what you'll get with this show.  My guess is any powers that the Lex clone has developed will be robbed from him by the end of the season, he'll blame Clark for it and continue to be his archenemy.

I really hope they show Darkseid in a full physical form and don't keep going the "smoke monster" route.  Better yet, I hope they show Darkseid actually DOING SOMETHING soon...

 No matter what, i think one thing we can expect is the "final battle" will last about 5 minutes

The final battle will last 5 minutes... as long as there is a commercial break in there somewhere.

And do we want to start taking prop bets for how long we see Clark in the full Superman suit?  If the over/under is at 5 seconds, I'll take the under.

Joe, jeez I dont even get a shout out hmm, thanks , lol j/k , but yeah your idea of the finale , dont think so sir, but i like the attempt lol. keep working on it and you may be come a writer yet , you know im only kidding , lol . But yeah No dont see it happening . I think we will find out that Lex has been alive and has been wandering around with out his memory , he is found and recovers some of his memory from lexcorpand Lionel,  however he no longer knows that Clark Kent is Superman and before Lionel can tell him, Lex is going to kill  Lionel and Tess .  Lex is also going to see Supes taking on Darkseid and will want his powers and to control him himself  which will lend fuel to  the fire. Clark dressed as the blur or hopefully Superman is going to confront Lex, Lex will ask him to join him and they can rule this world  realizing that Lex no longer remembers he is Superman , He tells Lex He'll be watching him and sparks the future rivalary. 

Thats my guess there will be no final act it will be left open so the ERA of SUPERMAN  can live on
