SMALLVILLE Debuts Big

It looks like the legend of Superman still has resonance in this day and age. Tuesday night's debut of SMALLVILLE did the best numbers of any series debut ever on The WB TV network.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the opening episode of the series, which focuses on the adventures of super-powered Clark Kent as a teeenager, pulled in the net's best numbers in adults 18-34 (4.5 rating/12 share), men 18-34 (5.0/14) and men 18-49 (3.9/10).
In addition, the episode also scored No. 1 in the hour in the network's target demos of teens, female teens and persons 12-34.
Overall, the series debut is said to have pulled in 8.35 million viewers, which landing the network in the number 3 spot for the hour, ahead of ABC and Fox.
