Cinescape has received an exclusive first look at the new SAW 2 trailer. It premiered at Comic-Con but we have it for you right here.

The story centers on Detective Eric Mason (Donnie Wahlberg) who is investigating the bloody aftermath of a grizzly murder and has the feeling that it is the work of Jigsaw, the notorious killer who disappeared leaving a trail of bodies - and parts - behind. And Mason is right. Jigsaw is at work again. But instead of two people locked in a room with only one unthinkable way out, there are eight. Eight strangers unaware of their connection to each other -- forced to play out a game that challenges their wits and puts their lives in jeopardy.

You know I liked the first Saw to an extent. I mean it really reminded me of how good Seven was, but without that clunky thing we call a plot. Don't get me wrong Saw was great eye candy for gore fans, and I don't expect too much out of the sequel.

Though let's get serious here. We're going from two people in a room to eight...it sounds like more of the first movie only multiplied by four. Ten to one the gore will be over the top and we'll be forced to sink are teeth into a winding tail about how these four people relate to each other, the majority will die, and the Jigsaw killer will pop up at the last momment to impart his facinating outlook on life...cue the credits. I'm not really impressed and I don't think most people will be either.

Now that was a well voiced opinion of why the movie let you down. I like reading that as opposed to the usual "that sucks" comments that are posted on this site. I also liked the first Saw to some extent, but what let me down the most was that this dying man was able to elude the police and over power his victims, and still stalk them from afar to gain insight into their lives, orchestrate elaborate traps and leave no forensic trail to follow. On the good side the ending was kept relatively quiet and the trailers showed very little so there were surprises.

I beg to differ. I felt Saw had a better than average plot than the typical serial killer movie. Granted, it wasn't terribly original, but it was established well enough to keep the film going. But the film isn't necessarily about it's plot more than it is what happens to it's characters. The characters from the film are not perticualrily original, but they aren't one dimensional either. Also keep in mind, Saw was an indie film that got bought up after Sundance, I believe it was. The reason I liked Saw was because it was one of the very few movies that actually scared me. Most scary movies, even those considered scary, don't scare me. This one did, and I look forward to seeing what surprises are in store for the sequel.

I'm looking forward to the sequel as I enjoyed SAW very much...but there was something that really bothered me about the first movie.
SPOILERS

How can a dying man, who can't even record an audio tape of himself without hacking up a lung...remain still on the floor for six hours without making a sound or movement?!?! The movie would have rocked if it wasn't for such an implausable premise, but it still entertained.

I liked the idea of murderer who actually didn't kill you, he let you kill yourself trying to do something, and if you survive the challenge he'll let you live knowing that you've found a new appreciation for life.

But the execution of the movie... man, awful. Why all the gore scenes were edited at the pace, with f*cking heavy metal music. Serious lack of taste.
