As you heard here at Mania the past week, CBS has dropped their genre series "Jericho". The Hollywood Reporter is featuring a sneak peek at the upcoming series finale which you can watch here. The short series was saved from a valiant fan campaign last year with promises to renew this shortened WGA season if ratings improved but it didn't come to fruition.

Just watched it... Yeah. Not that fulfilling. Again, too much soap opera and not enough substance, but I feel the writers' hands were tied. Too much story to fill in 1/3 of a season.

Even with this "alternate" ending, I think that they can move or sell the series to a cable station. All they need to do is have someone remote detonate the bomb in Texas for the season 3 opener... and the conspiracy continues.

Pick up the series, Sci Fi.

There are a lot of places they could take the series if it gets picked up by SciFi or another network. I thought the series finale was a little bit of a letdown, but I have to give the writers credit for at least trying to tie up the myriad of loose ends. I really would like to see more of these characters as they fight to rebuild and protect their world during a civil war in their backyard.

All things considered I think last night's finale was great. Everything, of course, was rushed but the writers did a fantastic job in moving everything along to a logical point to conclude the series. There's still a lot more story to tell. This ending could be a great beginning point for, say, Sci-Fi to pick up at (Hello! Sci-Fi?!?). While I'm incredibly disappointed and pissed at CBS I am very pleased we got what we got last night. The creators of this show deserve much praise. They produced a thought provoking, intelligent, adult genre show. Something severely lacking in today's "reality" TV, CSI, pick-a-suitcase world of crap. It'll be missed. Here's hoping not for long!

Perhaps someone should start sending peanuts to the Sci Fi Channel offices!

Or suitcase nukes to CBS?

I really don't get why CBS didn't push this show, with the over-arcing story of government coverup and corruption, it's thinly veiled parallels between the "Allied States of America" and the Bush Administration, and its connections with big corporations like Halliburton (Jennings & Rall) and private paramilitary "security" firms like Blackwater USA (Ravenwood).

Go figure.

My thoughts exactly macgawd. I've wondered about that on previous Jericho articles. This was buried at 10pm on Tuesdays against Idol & Legal because it was a little too thought provoking. Now that it's done everyone go back to screwing your roommates and picking a suitcase. Noting to see here.

Of course it was rushed. They compacted what the initially planned 14 episodes or so (for the second season) into 7 episodes that the CBS idiots ordered.

Despite that, it was good storytelling. No more soap-ish as ALIAS or DS9 for that matter.

I just noticed the caption under the photo and woke my girl up laughing. Funny stuff. Thanks.
