Sounds great.  I'm sure it will be better than the last Star Wars story inspired by The Seven Samurai.  That one was pretty awful.  It was one of the early Marvel Star Wars comics storylines.  It featured Han and Chewie organizing a group of hired guns.  I don't think the writer or the artist had even seen Star Wars, considering how things were done back then.

If memory serves, one of the many Star Wars knock-offs which came in the wake of it's overwhelming success used The Seven Samurai as well- Battle Beyond the Stars.  Since it was handled by Roger Corman's production company, it was about as bad as you'd expect.

 Yahoo has just posted an article with Snyder's reps denying this rumor. They say he is not involved with any star wars related project.

IT'S. BEEN. DONE.

Waaaaaay back in the 1970's, when Marvel did the Star Wars comics. Shortly after the issues finished the storyline from the first movie, and Marvel writers had to pick it up from there. They did a multi-issue storyline, with Han Solo recruiting five warriors (he and Chewie made seven) to help rid a planet of a despot. Perhaps some of you old farts like me remember this. The story featured an old, semi-crazed washed up Jedi named Don Wan Kehotay. oh, and a badass six foot green space rabbit.  So the story "borrowed" from Kirosawa AND from Cervantes. So....nothing new here kids. Snyder probably HOPEs no one remembers that old comic.

@Wyldstar

You remember it too! It WAS pretty bad. Lousy writing. Awful art. BAck in Marvel's "take the cash and dash" days.

 Already announced this ain't true.

Good idea though.

 I'm sure Snyder either has no idea that comic exists or he doesn't care.  If he's smart, he'll avoid that ill fated plot and go with something a bit more original.

Of course his reps say it's just a rumor and there's nothing to it.  It's wayyy early in the process to commit now.  Keep an eye out over the next year to see what develops.

I had an idea for a fan film JUST like this years ago about a gang of seven Mandalorians who come together to protect a sith crystal mine from aggressive jedi scum...

:P

Dark Horse is doing such a great job with the Star Wars comics, what are the odds that either them or Boom! (Disney Comics) are the next target of Disney's cash juggernaut?

Low, very low

Apparently the source is debunking the debunking
