Director Zack Snyder has revealed the first look of his Watchmen characters over at his film's official website. The upcoming adaptation of the Alan Moore comic has finished its shooting scheduled and entered post production. It stars Patrick Wilson, Jackie Earle Haley, Matthew Goode, Billy Crudup, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Malin Akerman, Carla Gugino, Stephen McHattie and Matt Frewer. The screenplay was penned by David Hayter and Alex Tse for Warner Bros.

Plot Summary: A complex, multi-layered mystery adventure, "Watchmen" is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the "Doomsday Clock" - which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union - is permanently set at five minutes to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed-up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion - a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers - Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity...but who is watching the watchmen?

Watchmen will hit theaters March 6, 2009.

I assume that the Night Owl is supposed to be a kncok off of Batman? I think it looks pretty cool,,,,I am stoked to see this movie.

I have to say, WELL DONE! No nipples in the costumes, no jock strap on the outside, and damn Akerman looks H-O-T! Nite owl's costume is nice as well although at first glance I thought "Batman & Robin". Looking forward to 368 days!!!

Wow, I gotta say this looks at least as good as I had hoped, probably even better.

I must say that I'm very impressed with the look. Especially like the Nite Owl, which I thought would be one of the most difficult to do without making him look goofy the way he did in the book. Then again I've siad all along that I trusted Snyder to do a good job with this project. I've liked pretty much everything he has put on the big screen in his short but blossoming career.

Yeah, I have to agree. They do look pretty damn good as far as comic to film characters go. I dare say, its actually a better representation of the Watchmen than Singer`s version of the X-men.

Whiskeymovie, Nite Owl is actually loosely based on Blue Beetle. Rorschach is a knockoff of The Question and Dr. Manhattan (the character I'm most anticipating seeing) is based on Captain Atom.

You may be on to something there ponyboy76. Get Snyder to do the remake/reimagining of X-Men. He can do a more gritty version. I like Snyder because he comes across as one of those directors that only does the projects he's passionate about and gets to have complete creative control. If you guys haven't already you should see all the behind the scenes footage to his 'Dawn of the Dead' remake. Snyder is in all of it. From the CGI shots, to the gross-out make up, to sound mixing, he's involved in all of it putting his touches and unique vision on the whole project.
Reminds me a lot of some of the greats. I'm going to see this even though I know nothing about it and haven't read the comic book, but just because he's involved. When I heard that he was doing Miller's 300 I was very skeptical and after the movie had to eat a LOT of crow to all my friends.
I've learned my lesson and I'll be there in the front row.
