While wrapping up the promotional circuit for his upcoming fantasy Sucker Punch, director Zack Snyder sat down with the Los Angeles Times to discuss his next major genre project, Superman. Or rather The Man of Steel, the long-rumored title for the next Supes adventure which Snyder confirms to be the likely name even if it has yet to be finalized by Warner Bros. Pictures.
The helmer once again tells fans that the film will be rebooting the iconic superhero, much like executive producer Christopher Nolan provided with Batman Begins, and that there won't be references to previous Superman films in the franchise.
"In every aspect of design and of story. The whole thing is very much from that perspective of respect the canon but don’t be a slave to the movies.”
Snyder also added that he hopes to provide fans with an official look at the new Superman costume before any leaks hit the web and that he's excited about some upcoming casting additions when asked about recent rumors about Kevin Costner and Viggo Mortensen being cast for the roles of Jonathan "Pa" Kent and General Zod, respectively.
“There’s more [casting] to come and I think it’s consistent in its … awesomeness.”

OK, that answers my biggest question because I thought it was going to follow even if loosely the first 2 films. Now my new biggest question is if he's planning on tackling his origin once again. I hope not but if he does since it's a reboot make it an abbreviated version ala Incredible Hulk. Then let's get to the meat of the story
I guess the best thing about this for me is that it does away with the superbrat
