TV Guide had an exclusive first look at the next animated DC Universe feature. Check out the first footage from Son of Batman below. The story is from the 2006 arc written by Grant Morrison. This is all in celebration of the Batman’s 75th anniversary. The film will premiere at WonderCon 2014 over Easter Weekend. Batman will be voiced once again by James O’Mara (Life on Mars).

Son of Batman features the vocal talents of Jason O'Mara as Batman/Bruce Wayne; Stuart Allan as Damian; Morena Baccarin as Talia, Damian's mother; Giancarlo Esposito as Ra's Al Ghul, leader of the League of Assassins and one of Batman's most notorious enemies; David McCallum as butler Alfred Pennyworth; Xander Berkeley as Kirk Langstrom (aka Man-Bat); and Thomas Gibson plays the master assassin Deathstroke.

Son of Batman has a release time frame of Spring 2014.

This looks to be one of the best DC animated works in some time, and held to a very high standard.  I will definately enjoy every frame of this one.  Glad to see that they managed to piece this one together out of the storyline it came from in great fashion.

 This looks pretty damn good.

Actually liked O'Mara's voice as Bats, and the kid's wasn't as annoying as I expected.

meh. looks like they significantly changed the story for no reason.  would have been cool if they included tim drake already establshed as robin to get the whole tim vs. damian dynamic

Well it says it's an original movie inspired by the comic book.

Shit looks damn good. Wish Marvel could step their game up to this level.

What ever happened to Warner / DC doing original stories?

I mean this will probably turn out good and all... but I've already collected the comics for the last few films.  Is ths a Warner "Let's save a few bucks" decision?  Is this why Bruce Timm isn't around any longer?

They are asking for a premium amount - full price for a rather short length film - so why not give me something new?

I like this and I think it looks pretty good. I did not read this storyline so I have little passion about the original story. I hope that DC keeps cranking out the comics movies, seeing that we will be waiting a couple of years to see something on the big screen.

looks good and i didn't hear a hint of cheesy dialog like you hear in the other justice league movie coming out.

@wiseguy - damn straight... with all the money coming in, why isn't marvel jumping all over this and making amazing one-shot cartoons? X-men: Pheonix Saga, DoFP, Mutant Massacre, Inferno, Extinction Agenda... Avengers vs the Alliance of Evil, Spider-Man vs Kraven... so many amazing stories ready to be animated

wesleywells1 1/21/2014 11:56:44 AM

This looks good. I loved the Dark Knight Returns animated films, and this looks to be on par with those. I'll definitely be checking it out.

@CalamityJohnson don't forget about Old Man Logan. I've been waiting for an animated version of that one for a long time.

Good blend of a newer style animation technique with that of Young Justice.
