Sonic welcomed to Nintendo HQ

Sure its not real news, but the photo has some redeeming value

By James Stevenson     February 08, 2002

A photo of Nintendo of America president Tatsumi Kimishima and mascot Mario welcoming Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog to Nintendo HQ was released by Nintendo today.

The move was to promote the fact that Sonic will be appearing on Nintendo's Game Boy Advance and GameCube in the next week for the first time in the history of the two companies. SONIC ADVANCE and SONIC ADVENTURE 2 BATTLE will be the first games to make use of Nintendo's Game Boy Advance/GameCube link cable.

The Sonic and Mario franchises have sold a total of over 175 million games since 1983.
