im so confused with this character i can't tell who he is how old is he is he affleck, ford or pine now? was he in the cia now he is a marine geez? is this a reboot or a follow up? damn!!

Ford was really playing the same version of the character Alec Baldwin played.

Affleck was a reboot and this is another reboot, by the looks of it, why the hell is that sooooo fecking confusing?

He will prolly join the CIA at the end of the movie or the beginning of the next...

This is the first Jack Ryan movie to not be based on a novel.  Completely new story written specifically for the big screen.  As a HUGE Tom Clancy fan, I'm a bit skeptical to say the least.

And there were no "reboots."  So far each Jack Ryan movie has been based on a novel.  Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, and Sum of All Fears were all based on books.  I still think that The Bear and the Dragon should be made into a movie.  But it would probably require more than one film and it wold certainly piss off the Chinese.

Mythos - Ryan was a Marine and was injured in a helicopter accident and was subsequently honorably discharged.  He spent some time on Wall Street and in the CIA.  In later books he becomes President.

BTW, chronologically speaking, Patriot Games actually predates Hunt for Red October even though Red October was filmed first.  Also, Red October was based on two separate true events.

Clear and Present Danger has been the best Jack Ryan movie so far.  I have enjoyed all the movies so far, including Sum of All Fears.  I thought Affleck did a decent job and would have gone to another if they made it.  That being said I hope this time when they go "back to the drawing board" the skip the eraser and continue on.

Oooooh sounds like a REAL scary and ambitious villain!  "Bent on destroying the American economy"?  That's like being bent on digging a hole in the grand canyon!
