Sony Acquires SKY CRAWLERS

According to Variety. Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group has picked up distribution rights on animated film "The Sky Crawlers" for the U.S., Canada, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand. The film is the latest from Mamoru Oshii, best known for films such as Ghost in the Shell, Jin-Roh and XXX and it is animated by Production I.G. which handled the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex TV series. "The Sky Crawlers" is based on a series of novels by by Hiroshi Mori and the film will feature music by Kenji Kawai and the screenplay by Chihiro Ito. The film took home a sidebar award a few days ago at the Venice Film Festival in the digital cinema competition as reported by the Hollywood Reporter.
