How would you feel about your PS2 coming with a 120 Gigabyte hard drive, a DVD recorder and a television receiver? If it sounds like you've died and gone to digital heaven, get ready to meet your maker before the end of the year (that is, if you live in Japan.)
Sony has announced that it will release the PSX in Japan before the close of the year, with a North American launch scheduled to roll out early in 2004. The PSX will offer consumers an "all-in-one" package for all their multimedia needs: audio authoring, watching TV, recording digital files and, of course, playing video games.
No price point was stated by the company, and no word was given if Sony has a gleam in its eye for a PlayStation 3 in the near future. During this month's annual E3 convention Sony announced plans to compete with Nintendo in the portable game unit market. Sony's so-called PSP will retail in stores sometime in 2004.
