So much for damage control in public relations, Sony. Apparently, after yesterday's news (Found here!) that Sony is promising 380 PS3 titles by March of 2008, the gaming world was in the midst of widespread skepticism. Sony was flooded with clarifications on this very high expectation and promise from Sony's president Kaz Hirai.

A little clarification has been spread down the news wires in answer to the 380 Title promise.

Sony is now stating that when they mean 380 PS3 titles, they mean on a global scale. What this means is that there will be 145 PS3 titles that will be released by next year. 105 boxed retail titles, 40 PSN titles. 145 total PS3 titles by March of 2008.

Not 380 titles here in the states.

This news makes me wanna hug my Wii...

I've decided to sit out this generation so far. I was the first kid in town to have a Super Nintendo (back before waiting in lines for a release was standard, I hung out at the mall all morning on release day for the truck to get there), got a Playstation within the first month or two, and was desperate enough for a PS2 to get one off eBay for about $50 over retail early on.

Nothing in the Wii, PS3, X360 era makes me want one... the Wii looks fun, but I'm still not convinced it won't go the way of the pet rock. The PS3 is overpriced even though I'm in a much better position to afford one than the average gaming public. And since I'm not much for FPS games, the Halo driven Microsoft systems have never grabbed my attention.

It never ceases to amaze me just how badly Sony has bungled this transition in generations. But now that Blockbuster is exclusively renting Blu-Rays it may lead that format to prominence and be a bonus for them.

The HD DVD and BluRay wars are pointless. ABout 5 million people have them, DVDs will be around for a long time to come.

And by Sony's math they are most likely winning this generation so far. Sony Sucks, go back to making shity laptop batteries that melt.

Honestly, Sony and Microsoft are like two people with an outrageous amount of sexual tension. They really should just get together and get it over with.

I'd rather here about 6 high quality games being released instead of a quantity of 380. You just know 90-95% of those games will rate a "meh".

I'd say closer to 99.9%. Sony's library is expansive no doubt - but how many titles are really worth mention out of the hundreds (thousands?) they have thus far?

Sad really.
