Sony Discontinues 20GB PS3

Date: Thursday, April 12, 2007

Sony has announced that they will discontinue offering the 20GB PS3 model in North America due to limited demand.

"Initial retail demand in North America was upwards of 90 percent in favor of the 60GB [PS3], so we manufactured and shipped-in accordingly," said Dave Karraker, Sony Computer Entertainment America's senior director of PR. "Due to the overwhelming demand for the 60GB model from both retailers and consumers, we have ceased offering the 20GB model here in North America."

No word was given as to if the 20GB console would still be released in Europe and Australia.  It will remain available throughout Japan.

He He He!

Well that was obviously what would happen. But at least the 20GB PS3 would make a nice Linux server.
