A day off, money in hand and the innocence of Kanata all come together as she heads off to the market on her own.

What They Say
'Kanata's Day Off - Hair Braiding'
On her first day off since arriving in Seize, Kanata goes into town with a smile on her face. By chance, it's the day the town market is being held. Kanata goes from shop to shop with her first paycheck in hand, when she meets Yumina, the nun from the church. She becomes caught up in the search for Mishio, a little girl who ran away from the orphanage. But at the same time, something else is going on at Clocktower Fortress...

The Review!
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
The sixth episode of Soranowoto is a bit of an odd duck for the series as something feels just a little bit off throughout. While we're have episodes that focused on the individual characters, the city itself and a team building exercise, this one plays two storylines through it that touch each other lightly. For the most part, it's about the past and our connections to parents and others that sets the theme here and it's well done but lacking in a certain extra little something to make it connect well.

With Kanata having been at the Clocktower Fortress for a bit now, she's finally gotten paid and earned herself a day off. Dressed up in some cute clothes, she takes her hard earned money and heads out into Seize to spend the day and explore its big outdoor market that's quite bustling and full of activity. Along the way there, she meets up with both Mishio and Yumina but spends more time with Yumina since Mishio's on a quest for a very particular box. There are some outstanding issues that Yumina thinks that Mishio may have with her past and that pushes Kanata to try and find her as she heads off into the market, leading to a mild adventure that intersects briefly with the other storyline. It's the ending part of this story that's important though as we see some bonding that's been needed and for Kanata to get a sense of accomplishment from her involvement in it.

The storyline that's more fun and also shorter involves something very amusing as Kanata goes out the door. The rest of the platoon uses her absence for their own mischievousness and that means dressing up as beautiful gangsters and going to an out of the way abandoned factory building of sorts where they meet up with the local town mafia. Threats fly, bravado is raised and it all turns into a gun battle that leaves all the familiar nice guy mafia men laying on the ground. All of it is for a show for a pair of mafia men from central who have come to shake things down in Seize for their boss, but the Clocktower girls have worked a deal with the local mafia men in order to maintain a good sense of peace and cooperation. This operation is cute overall but it has a lot of really great style during the theatrics part that makes it fun to watch. All of them dolled up and acting tough and beautiful works really well for just about all of them.

In Summary:
Soranowoto has a fairly fun episode with some light moments as well as some good character bits. Rio has a nice little touch on the past that adds to her as well as including her mother in an active way. Kanata gets to explore the town and cement her connections with a few people she's befriending and that helps to humanize her even more. And we have a fierce gun battle done in classic mafia war style that's sexy and fun and full of theatrics. I liked the episode, but it feels a little out of place compared to the five that came before it in some way that I can't quite put my finger on.
