Sorcerer Hunters Vol. #1

By Jon Gibson     February 18, 2002

The Review!
Sorcerer Hunters is by far one of the best digital transfers to DVD to date. The video and sound are crystal clear, and the animation is definitely some of the best I've seen all year. Having never seen this series before, I had chosen this over the several other titles that were released with or around this DVD and I chose this for many reasons. 1) I had been wanting to see it for years. 2) You get 7 episodes for $30! Now in any language, that's a bargain. and 3) At the time, the sheer amount of episodes you got with it finally made me decide.
I'm pleased to say I've made the right choice. For those who have not seen this series, which I have not prior to this, I can say that those of you who have been waiting for the right DVD to fill your Anime collection, then you may have your prize! This series is insanely funny, with of course filled with tons of fan service. Oh, and one other nice thing, thanks to the people who subtitled this DVD, and opposed to other DVD titles... you actually READ the subtitles AND follow along without missing a single bit of the action without them overlapping.

Now, there comes the subject of the cover art... well, let's just say that it could've been a litlle more inventive. But, at least you won't be able to miss it. The video and sound were VERY well done, something ADV strives for in every release. The content? Who can complain when you get 7 episodes? I know I can't! The only thing you won't like is when you need more! ~_^

Ok... the reviews. As I said, the visuals are some of the BEST I've seen in any Anime DVD thu far... the animation looks brand new. Not bad for an anime series that's almost 4 years old Definitely gets an A in my book. The sound is excellent and with the pounding techno-esque soundtrack, you'll be humming the music for hours afterwards. Sound gets an A. The box really needed help though. But, when the series itself used the same font, what can you do? The box gets a C. The content: A+ 7 episodes... 'nuff said!

Overall: A- This is a strange, yet amusing and very memorable anime series for any library. Pick it up as soon as you can! ^_^
