Spartan sequel planned for 300?

The Rumor: A sequel is on the horizon for Zack Snyder’s adaptation of the Frank Miller comic 300.

The Source: Producer Mark Canton to SOSHollywood

The Mania Verdict: TRUE---Warner Bros. lists the budget for 300 at $65 million…and it grossed $456 mil worldwide in 2007. The biggest question is whether director Zack Snyder will be back behind the camera.

Josh Jackson is the next Spider-Man?

The Rumor: The former Dawson Creek star Joshua Jackson is slated to be the next man to fill the superhero’s tights.

The Source: Various News Agencies

The Mania Verdict: FALSE---Though Tobey Maguire is still not signed for the fourth film installment, the ball is still in his court to exit. These rumors came from a Josh Jackson interview with MTV on being considered for Batman (before Christian Bale locked it up) and for his part, Jackson was joking about being Spider-Man:

“You know, honestly, out of the big super heroes the guy that I would most naturally be a fit to play is Spider-Man, but that one is pretty well locked up…frankly, I’m too old to play that character because the parable of Spiderman is the teenager going through puberty…That was really subtle of me putting my name in the hat.”

Aliens vs Predator 3 Coming Soon?

The Rumor: A third installment in the AvP franchise is a “certainty.”

The Source: STYD

The Mania Verdict: TRUE---The Strause brothers---directors for Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem---have been very vocal on their plans for a third installment, with the story taking place on an alien planet in the past. They kept the budget for the second installment low at $25 to $30 million, which amounted to profits for 20th Century Fox.

Y: The Last Man Trilogy on the Way?

Y The Last Man by Brian K. Vaughan and artist Pia Guerra.

The Rumor: Director D.J Caruso (Disturbia) is adapting the fan favorite Vertigo comic series into a live action movie trilogy.

The Source: Caruso to MTV

The Mania Verdict: TRUE—While it’s obvious that anyone wants their movie expanding into a trilogy, Caruso is designing the screenplay to represent only the opening of a more ambitious project.

"Where the first movie ends doesn't even relate to the last issue [of the comics] because it's so far down the road," he said. "It hasn't succeeded so far in the screenplay format because everyone keeps trying to throw everything in there. We're only taking this [first] story so far."

Brainiac to Appear in Smallville Season 8?

Dr. Milton Fine aka Brainiac(James Marsters) in SMALLVILLE (2005).

The Rumor: Super villain Brainiac will take a larger role in the upcoming eighth season of “Smallville”. Actor James Marsters wants to continue playing the character in the next season.

The Source: Various

The Mania Verdict: TRUE---It may just be an actor saying what he wants, but the producers of “Smallville” will have to fill a void now that Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor) and Kristen Kreuk (Lana Lang) have left the show as regulars.

more brainiac on smallville is cool but the show will still be weak. i caught smallville tonight dumbest episode ever! with every passing episode they cement the fact he will never be superman or even close on this show. thank the powers that i don't care much about superman anyway.

Josh Jackson was only good in THE MIGHTY DUCKS, Spidey sense laughing but more range than Totem Pole Maguire.

I can go for more AVP. One would think it could get better with each attempt. Ah heck. Who am I kidding? I just miss the PC game.

well, first 300 sequel, will be bad without our heroes....all the time they want to moove forward when heroes died it sucks !Prequel is the only way. They should focus on the life of the king, second AVP, Stop the massacre !! movies are worst and worst every time. It s become a joke. I have to stop in the middle of the AVP2 the other nigth, i can t stand it, it s too much, they are killing the original characteres Spidey, i don t think is too old, beside we was reading the comics for twenty years with the same peter parker , so ten years will do....

I have to disagree with ex, I want another AVP only because it won't be on Earth. Give me an Alien planet and let the slaughter begin, I'm so there.

i have to go with evilmonkey on the avp 3 only cause it might live up to my expectations of what an avp flick should be.

300 sequel, what!? WB should partner up with Sony, contact Zack Snyder to direct an adaption of God of War. That would be kick ass and they get the Spartan story they want. Plus the get a franchise out of it. Do it already!!! Forget 300.
AvPs are bad, but the last one was better than the first, at least in my opinion, so if they make a better one I'm all for it. Plus, setting it somewhere else that isn't Earth will certainly help.
Braniac? I guess it's a good thing. Don't really watch Smallville anymore during the season, I'll catch a few episodes on dvd though. End the show!

Humans in Aliens have to tech up for the next one. I am tired of slasher type of stories for this. Humans need to Startrooper up with a better story of course.

What would a sequel to 300 even be called? 302?

WISEGUY562 • Mar 14, 2008, 06:05am •
300 sequel I'm not too sure about, but I agree with exfan that a prequel could be the best way to go. But as long as they keep the fantasy aspect, I'm in.
AvP 3? Hell yes. I enjoyed the last installment and have been calling for more ever since. I think people need to stop comparing these to the first Aliens or Predator, those are in a class of their own and like many franchises most sequels don't compare to the original. And with the many possibilities open to this franchise I would hate for them to let it die.
Y The Last Man is supposed to be a good book (I never read them) but the theme is somewhat familiar. I think it could work, just please NO Shia LaDouche.
I was hoping they would introduce more of Superman's classic villains. But it makes sense to have more Brainiac, as he's probably the one character that may lead him to his destiny even if it's unintentional. I just hope they wrap up the show next season, I sort of want to bail on the show, but this far along I need to stick around til the end.
