Sideshow Collectibles has revealed the new 12-inch, 3-lbs Venom figure for the upcoming film Spider-Man 3.

The figure, which is expected to ship out sometime in the 2nd quarter of 07', can be pre-ordered via their website.

Spider-Man 3 is scheduled for release on May 4, 2007, and will reunite returning cast members Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and James Franco with director Sam Raimi and producers Laura Ziskin and Marvel Studio's Avi Arad, the successful film making team responsible for the first two films. Thomas Haden Church and Topher Grace have also been added to the cast of the blockbuster franchise.

KJ's Take:  It looks pretty friggin sweet, though I tend to favor statues over figures like this.  Personal preference.

Looks wierd. Nice, but wierd. I guess they figured that the symbiote, once attached to Eddie Brock wouldn't want a white spider? Oh well.

Actually, in the trailers, Peter doesn't have the big white spider, either. Looks like it just turns his current costume all black. The action figure looks pretty cool, but I'm waiting for the first action shots of Venom!

First of all, that looks nothing like Venom.

Carnage, yes...Venom, no.

Plus the costume's horrible.

It looks as though the costume does not fit his body, not as tight as spideys.

It looks like a hybrid of carnage and venom but more on the carnage side.

Ya, bring on the venom action shots which more than likely come at the end of the movie. Oh well

That's NOT venom! As muchdrama said "Carnage, yes .. Venom, no"

Venom has more mass and is imposing as Hulk is when he towers over you whereas Carnage is lanky with a distorted body build.

Seems like a cheap way for a toy company to make more money by altering the classic Venom look as they did with Spider-Man when they turned him from normally looking and normal build teenager in a costume to one that had huge Spidey eyes and a big head on a twisted skinny body form.

When that happened I lost interest in Spider-Man permanently. Haven't started re-collecting them again since. Most of the Marvel comic characters went that route that I no longer collect Marvel comics.

Captain America without his wings of freedom ear tuffs isn't Cap!

Marvel comics are now too dorky looking!

I have returned......
Eat it complainers, this looks sweet, the perfect marriage of the comic character and the Spidey movie universe..... why would it look like the comic Venom when Spidey's black costume doesn't look like the comic.... mad like

I'm with madmaniac999 here. This looks great, and if this is in the movie them i'm even more excited about it. Remember, the comics can't always translate to the big screen exactly as they do in the comic. How many times do we need to rehash this when a movie character looks different than the comics do.

Yep, I'm with madmanic999 & goirish83, too. I think it looks good.

This is gonna rock! I'm diggin the mutation of the black spidey suit - essentially making the webbing part of the big spider on the chest, and the veinage - very nice!

I think this looks great for what Raimi is going for. For those complainers who want the bulky venom of the comic, Venom was bulky in the comic because Eddie Brock was a bulky guy. With Topher Grace playing Eddie in the movie, they had to go with a thinner Venom. Still looks pretty deadly to me. Can't wait to see some action shots!
