MONSTER ATTACK Director Getting Busy

Well, today's Variety reports that Fickman is also looking to adapt the YA novel 'Gimme a Call' for Paramount.

The article states that Fickman has not made a choice of which movie he'll do next, but we're crossing our fingers for 'M.A.N.'

SPIDER-MAN 4 Plot and Villains Leaked?

OK, so fans are wondering and speculating over who the villains might be in the  'Spider-Man 4' movie, due out in 2011 from Sony.

An anonymous Maniac sent in a link from a movie database hosted by Hoyts Cinemas in Australia. The database lists 'Spider-Man 4' as "coming soon" and even provides a plot synopsis for the movie:

Peter Parker now faces a more greater threat. After a man is accidentally killed in an electrical power outage; a mass murderer has bonded with a symbiote. Thus wreaking havoc as Peter faces this red rampage, as well as an electrifying madman.

Well, that certainly sounds like Carnage and Electro.

However, we have to say this info sounds extremely dubious for several reasons. First of all, why this plot summary would surface first on an Australian Cinema chain site is beyond us. Add to that the fact that the author of the summary is extremely grammar-challenged, with run-on sentences and awkward redundancies like "a more  greater threat".

We're guessing someone at Hoyts picked up on fan chatter found on message boards over the past two years. Either that or someone has found a way to update Hoyts' database through surreptitious means. And, of course, Sam Raimi said just last week that he was still working on the basic storyline and contemplating which villain (or villains) he might use.

So, file this rumor under "highly doubtful".

What do you think, Maniacs? Who should the Spider-Man 4 villains actually be?

BLOOD Online!

Japan loves YATTAMAN, not so keen on the DRAGONBALL

Box Office Mojo reports that the live-action anime-adaptation 'Yattaman' is #1 in Japan for the third week in a row. The film, directed by Takeshi Miike, pulled in another $2.5 million USD for a total take of $16.8 million USD.

The American-made manga-adaptation 'Dragonball Evolution' is not faring so well. The film debuted at #3 and has dropped to #8 in its second week of release. It took in about $1 million USD for a total gross of aobut $6 million.

What do you think Maniacs? Will you see these films when they migrate to your neighborhood?

I have said it before, and I will say it again, Tthe villians for Spider-Man 4 should be Kraven the hunter and Scorpion.

jmg134 3/24/2009 10:02:35 AM

I think the villians should be the Lizard instead and Kraven.

OmegaDean 3/24/2009 10:29:25 AM

I'm with Xenomorph Kraven...or Scorpion...I hate the multiple villians in these movies.  It takes away from the stories in general

Duggernaut 3/24/2009 10:33:24 AM

I have to say I was looking forward for spiderman to face off against the menacing mole man or even his deadliest foe the Terrible tinkerer. Electro and carnage are not bad choices but that plot line sounds like it would be almost idnetical to spiderman three so by no means its real.

If  part four and five are supposed to be connected by a continuing story line maybe it will be the sinister six (not the original ones).  I think they understand this movie has to restart the flame so either it has to be one big villain or a bunch of villains who don't need big intro's.

J Johnah Jameson's spiderslayer. Somebody needs to catch that web headed weasel.

Also, I can't see why Raimi would go with Carnage, when he already had a bad experience with Venom being forced on him last time. I could definitely see Kraven & Lizard (since he has been set up in the last 3 movies already). If you wanted, you could even throw in a brief appearance by Man-Wolf, since there was a set-up for him in #2. You could introduce Kraven by having him come to NY to hunt down and capture Man-Wolf.  There, he sees Spidey in action (trying to capture The Lizard) and decides to hunt him. There you go, Sam. Story problem solved. Need any more help? Feel free to call.

BlindJustice 3/24/2009 11:57:11 AM

Either Doc Conners goes full out Lizard and Kraven shows up to hunt him down forcing Parker to fight the Hunter while trying to cure his friend. (we get action, drama and finally get to see Parkers nerdy side)

As Doc Oc passes out while sinking the legs take over dragging him to shore where he wakes with limited memories of the battle and recruits the best of the worst to take down the wall crawler (the recruiting will take place over the first 2 films with Spidey facing the Sinister 6 at the end of Part 2 and the final battle takes place over the 3 installment)

Notice NO M.J.

I am on board for Kraven/Lizard story. A carnage story would have been good if they did it last movie instead of Venom - that dude from 70's show was way to small to be Brock, they could have made him a psycho killer that became carnage. if they go the carnage/electro route I may have to past.

Blood the last vampire looks good (I am a fan of the anime movie and the blood series)

I have never seen Yattaman and I can't stand dragonball for their bad racial stereotypes (look at how they draw the black characters) plus I called out that the movie would suck anyway. so I know I won't see dragonballs I might check out Yattaman on dvd once I see the anime

ponyboy76 3/24/2009 3:07:54 PM

I said a long time ago and I`ll say it again. Kraven, just as everyone else is saying. Either or the idea of a Sinister Six would be pretty cool although since they turned Sandman in more of a pansy than Wolverine in X3 I doubt it.
Carnage would never work. In the comic the character is great because, well he is an utter psychopath who kills just for fun, but in a movie that isn`t going to be close to rated -R, it would lose its punch and a watered down version of Carnage, is pretty much just Venom in red. Leave the symbiote stuff alone! The only other way I can see them introducing it again is if they use the piece that Doc Connors has. Maybe he uses it for an experiment to grow his arm and ends up becoming the Lizard.

monkeyfoot 3/24/2009 3:17:37 PM

Blyndjustice, you have some great ideas! That would really work great for two more movies. Though I'm pretty sure MJ will be in them-Raimi wants her in it if Kirsten Dunst is willing. My idea for Kraven is that he is a famous celebrity hunter/adventurer like Bear Grylls or Steve Irwin with a huge ego that decides to take on the Lizard and Spider-man as a challenge.

Forget Wolverine, Hulk, Batman or any other hero who thinks he's tough. After seeing asian trailers for movies like Chocolate, High-Kick Girl and now Blood: The Last Vampire it's obvious the baddest asses in the world are teen age Asian schoolgirls :)
