Hoffman is a great actor and plays a great villian , look at him in IM- 3, He stole that movie, He be better suited as  playing HammerHead or even King pin using King Kong Bundy as a body double. That being said I find it more beleiveable that he is going to be in a role as a gangsta , cause lets face it he isnt exactly a trim fellow. Either way I hope im wrong but but I still think this maybe an Epic Fail, actually I really dont care if it does fail, cause I still have Rami's spiderman 1 and 2 both excellent movies, Im with DUCK, Molina's portrayal of DOC OCT, as being one of the best portrayals of a comicbook villian, right up there with both Jokers, Nicholson, Ledger, In fact when you think about it who has done a better job at playing a Comic book villian. NOT MANY, most of you are probally like mewe like the hero so much we excuse the sucky acting of the villians.

Best Comicbook Villians In a movie:

1.DOC OCT 2. both Jokers 3. Catwoman (Piefer) 4. Silver Surfer(kind a badguy) 5. Penguin 6. ZOD 7. Scarecrow 8.Magneto 9. Mystique 10. Prince Nuada ( Hell Boy 2)

WHO ELSE ? Its sad but when i started to really think about it there where only a few Darth Vader quality comicbook Villians.

Marc Webb's 500 Days of Summer was a great movie.  I just saw The Social Network over the weekend and Andrew Garfield will make a fine Peter Parker.  Now they add Emma Stone to the cast which is another good move. The new Spider-Man will not fail, it will be money.

If this had read Hoffman for Doc Ock........maybe.  But for venom?!!??!

krathwardroid 10/4/2010 1:17:34 PM

If they're going to talk Venom rumors, can they at least use Cole Hauser's name? I've been saying this since Spider-Man 3 came out and I still say it now: Cole Hauser would be the best Eddie Brock/Venom. Whenever they decide to bring Venom back into the film series, please let it be Cole Hauser in the part. Why, of all people, would they throw Philip Seymour Hoffman's name into the rumor mill as Venom? If they're going to use his name, why not tack him onto a different character?

I agree that Emma Stone's potential casting as MJ is an improvement over Kirsten Dunst any day. At least Stone has the right personality for it, but I still would like to see Emma Roberts get the part. Hmmm... Emma Stone - Emma Roberts... The Emmas all seem to have the right MJ quality, don't they? :P

I second the list of villains for Spider-Man. We have all of these bad guys floating around in Spidey's neighborhood and the studio execs keep returning to the same few villains. Alright, we get it! Venom is one of the most popular Spidey villains of all time! Doesn't mean you have to gravitate toward him, or Green Goblin for that matter. Like everyone else asked, what about Vulture, Mysterio, Lizard, Electro, Rhino, and Kingpin (the Spider-Man Kingpin, not the 2003 Daredevil Kingpin)? If you want to add gravity to Spider-Man films, throw the Kingpin in there. Cast Butterbean to play him, too.

Whoever started that rumor needs to be hung. Have they even seen the guy? Jeez, it's like they've never even heard of Venom!  But thank GOD, it's just a rumor.

After weeks of recent speculation, Deadline.com reported Monday evening that Zack Snyder has been chosen by Warner Bros. to direct the next Superman film.

The Hollywood Reporter stated that negotiations began earlier today. Christopher Nolan, director of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, is a producer on Superman, and had reportedly been considering a list of candidates including Snyder, Tony Scott and Duncan Jones.

I'd still like to see Michael Bay make a Superman movie, but I'll take Zack any day of the week.

I'll take Snyder.......Deadline is also reporting that Gen. Zod will be the heavy.  Also.......I'm all for Routh coming back as Supes.

YES YES YES, ZACK AND ZOD,  two good thing that go great together. Im pyched that we are getting a baddie that can take on Supes, but I would have loved to see a build up to ZOD, but I know Warners has one shot at this next take on Supes, But ZOD is Sort of like DARKSEID, YOU KINDA WANT TO HAVE HIM IN THE SHADOWS AND THEN HAVE SUPES BATTLE HIS MINIONS WORKING TOWARD THE FINAL CONFORTATION in the third movie. First movie Desaad with Granny Goodness and her Furies, 2nd movie Kalibak / Steppenwolf and the Parademons. Third Movie invasion and Darkseid.  Superman is a Legend and His story should be on a Epic scale , STAR WARS IN  SIZE
