SOTA Toys presents the ultimate Spider-Man collectible, the Spider-Man Deluxe Pewter Chess Set. This dynamic, original chess set features 16 different characters (plus 8 Spider Tracers and 8 Spider Killers) and a sculpted chess board that recreates a roof top battle between good and evil.

The chess board features a sculpted lid that lifts off to reveal a storage space for all of the chess pieces. Made of high-quality pewter, these chess pieces are nearly unbreakable. Production is strictly limited to 1,000 Chess Sets worldwide. The price will be $499.99.

This collectible is currently available for pre-order at sotatoys.com and will be available for sale at gift shops, comic stores, fine boutiques and online stores.

A Chess Set, I Like this Idea, at least it is not a another posible action figure, but $499, that is still a lot.

Goblin as King is perfect. He is Spider-Man's main bad guy. If I could own this for less than a hundred I would buy it but otherwise, nah.

Now I know what I want for Christmas.I guess Doctor Octopus has be the queen 'cause now when I think of it Spidey does have a lot of female villians, unless you wanna count the barely seen Elektra or Lady Octopus

Looks great and like many others I suppose I'd love to have one. However, $500 is steep. Thats a car payment and a half. Its half of a mortgage payment. Its 3 fill ups at the pump! :-)
Price tag is seriously going to hamper sales on this piece.

Killerville, um... ok I know they say Venom is the Rook but isnt it quite easy to switch the pieces around yourself if you dont like their choices? I'm sure that the sky wouldnt erupt into flames if you changed Venom into the King... shit, after all, you ARE paying $500 for the chess set, right?
I saw the Simpsons Chess set, its quite expencive in its own right, I would LOVE to own that but cant afford it plus I'm not really into chess myself.
