Spider-Man Joins The FF

New direction for the book explored

With the recent death in the Fantastic Four, and the book ending, the relaunch certainly wasn't a surprise though they're taking it in a slightly unexpected direction by calling it the FF where they can bring in various additional characters as needed for various storylines to make it more of a larger group effort when needed while still keeping it to the smaller character interactions when needed. Will they focus more on the family aspect though now that Johnny is dead?

PR:

There is no more Fantastic Four, so just what is the FF? This March, the creative team of Jonathan Hickman and Steve Epting present the over-sized FF #1, introducing the biggest new super hero team of the century! After the death of The Human Torch, the surviving members of the Fantastic Four—Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman and The Thing—join with Spider-Man and some top secret members to form an unstoppable force: The Future Foundation. Their mission is simple: Save the Marvel Universe from its greatest threats and prevent future dangers from arising. But even with knowledge of what’s to come and one of the most powerful teams ever assembled, just what villainous force could stand in their way?

“FF will alter the very fabric of the Marvel Universe,” explained Tom Brevoort, Senior Vice President of Publishing. “Jonathan and Steve have crafted a unique, powerful new series that’s going to surprise a lot of fans with its combination of mind-blowing ideas and visuals.”

The perfect jumping on point for new readers, FF #1 begins a battle for the future of the Marvel Universe unlike anything you’ve ever seen before and no fan can afford to miss it!

So both Spiderman and Thing are dividing their times between the FF and the Avengers, plus Spierman has all the other solo activities in his plethora of books.  Couldn't they recruit any one of the hundred or so heroes currently at home watching The Price is Right?

Ok, I haven't read Marvel since right before Secret Invasion stuff... also I've never been a big F4 fan so maybe I have no right to complain here.

However... I am absolutely APAULED at those costumes.  I can honestly say that they are some of the worst designed and ugliest super hero costumes that I have ever seen.  The white, the honey comb symbols, everything.  Spidey looks kind of neat I suppose, but the others... wow.  Just wow.  It looks like they are ready to be digitized for a crazy adventure in CYBER SPACE!  They were going for different... well they most definitely succeeded in that at least.

Besides, shouldn't they be wearing BLACK to mourn the Torch?  A black color scheme would be perfect!

And I agree with you John, why is it always either Spidey or Wolverine that gets added to books to supposedly "draw in readers"?  There are so many other characters they could choose that would draw people in.  They should have replaced him with another elemental hero.  Iceman would have been a really interesting choice I think... of course he could be dead now for all I know.
