Activision Publishing and Marvel Entertainment have released the first details of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, the newest entry of non-stop heroic action to star the iconic wall-crawler. The video game is scheduled for release in September 2010 and will allow players to travel through four different worlds as distinctly different versions of Spider-Man from four universes across Marvel lore, two of which are announced today: The Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man Noir.

As Spider-Man, players will experience a wide variety of gameplay and dramatic environments.  The Amazing Spider-Man experience delivers innovative web combat and visuals in a world that pays tribute to the classic era of the legendary Super Hero. In contrast, Spider-Man Noir features a cunning and covert depiction of Spider-Man, who utilizes shadows to perform stealth takedowns in a 1930's-influenced, black-and-white cinematic environment.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions delivers an original storyline that bridges four unique worlds,’ said Rob Kostich, Head of Marketing, Activision Publishing, Inc. ‘Each action-packed universe will have its own detailed art design and thrilling missions, challenging gamers to use new skill sets to defeat enemies as they unlock powerful new moves and progress through the game.’

Penned by acclaimed Marvel comic book writer Dan Slott, the story takes players on a mission to capture the magical energy of the Tablet of Order and Chaos, which has been shattered and scattered across parallel universes. Gamers are challenged to battle fan-favorite villains such as the lethal Kraven and a custom, never-before-seen Noir version of Hammerhead, in a quest to restore the fabric of reality”. - Activision

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is developed by Beenox and not yet rated. Fans can learn more about Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions and the next worlds to be revealed by visiting www.SpiderManDimensions.com.

So what do you think Maniacs? Will Spider-Man 2099 be one of the other two? Perhaps, Peter Parker from 1602 will make an appearance? Sound off below!

This looks fricking amazing. And it is a brilliant idea.  Here's to hoping to see Marvel Zombies Spider-man.

I thought 'Web of Shadows' looked good!  This IS freakin' amazing!  Love the style of graphics.  Noir still feels a little like Batman, which is why I didn't collect the comics, but still original enough to make it a cool concept.

Spiderman 2099 will HAVE to be one of the levels.  Past, present, future....  But what could be a good fourth...?  Black costume's been done to death now and 1602 would just be a retread of Noir.  Zombies may be a little adult for the kiddies...  Hmmmm...  Silver Age maybe?

It had me until the line Penned by Dan Slott. That guy can't write Spider-Man worth crap. The game might still be fun though...

Ultimate Spider-Man, and 2099 are my guesses. I think Zombies would be cool as well though. Cosmic Spidey? anyone?

Calibur454 4/1/2010 6:33:03 AM

yeah the game looks good but why do i get the sickening feeling that marvel will have a comic book trade with this same story line coming out in the near future-

ps- I am also stumped on the forth spiderman- 2099 is a good bet for the third but as for a fourth- Perhaps a futuristic spiderman from the civil war era- remember the costume on that one invented by tony stark that could get spidey to fly.

2099 for sure... How about the Spidey Unlimited Cartoon Universe?

Betenoire 4/1/2010 12:25:19 PM

Spider-Ham and Spider-man and His Amazing Friends where you team up with Ms. Lion.

MrJawbreakingEquilibrium 4/1/2010 2:23:16 PM

Well - it won't be Civil War because that is is the Amazing Spider-Man dimension.

I doubt it will be 2099 because that is still in the same dimension as the regular comics I believe and wasn't even Peter Parker.  Ultimate Spider-Man is a shoe in, so if it's not 1602 it has to be Zombies.  But, yeah, Zombies might be a little much for their target demo but then again the comics weren't really mature.

What about Spider-Girl?

 I vote for 1602 Spider-Man! Also love the Iron-suit-Spider-Man.
