I'm with you, Robert:  Venom is a villain.  He's best when he is really evil.  They should leave him that way.  I know he's popular, and Marvel dreams of running him as some anti-hero, but... no.  Make him as dark and evil as possible... then bring in Carnage and make him even worse.

OmegaDean 12/15/2013 2:33:21 AM

I will not support this crap. It makes no sense what so ever

redvector 12/15/2013 2:00:39 PM

Venom has never really worked as a hero, anti or otherwise. Marvel has been trying for years to make it happen but all they've got to show for it are a bunch of failed titles and mini series that never went anywhere. In fact they just canceled the most recent title.

I'll believe this when I see it.
Of the two ideas, I could potentially see a "Venom" movie seeing the light of day. But a Sinister Six movie?
That's either somebody sounding off, or someone getting their wires crossed.
Never happen.

Good lord, Sony just grasping at straws because they have no other Marvel property to tie it in to.

I'm seeing critics and the Joe Audience already getting tired of superhero movie fatigue, having a movie about villains will just worsen it.

Seriously Sony, instead of investing money towards crap ideas like this, why don't you strike a deal with Marvel and loan out Spidey and vice versa. Having Spidey in the MCU would seriously add more flavour to the next Phase of movies.

I'm interested in seeing how they do this, and as far as having evil characters in the lead goes, look at horor movies. Is Jason a good guy? no but he is the main character. I think if they have the right person behind it these movies can be really good.i know I'd go see them.

Dasmang 12/15/2013 10:01:46 PM

It's not that I don't want spinoffs.  It's that if these movies are made I want dark subjects, evil!  I don't mind seeing this,  but in the end I want good, righteousness to prevail.  To me this leads to two things a drawn out movie or two, three,  or an anticlimatic ending for a one shot.  either way we have great comics to draw from or even creat anew.  What I want is a good story and something that fits within the Marvel universe, wether it be a stand alone story or a new arc.  The movie tools are out there,  we no longer have to argue can it be done,  only can it be done with class, style and integrity.

Venom could work as a monster movie.  Think of it like that.

Wiseguy 12/16/2013 6:05:32 AM

They could take the Thunderbolts approach with any of these villains. Have them be controlled by the govt. whatever agency. Then we can see them struggle against their nature while still being heroes.

redvector 12/16/2013 6:53:10 AM

A Thunderbolts approach is the only way a Sinister Six movie could work. And again you'd run into the problem of who would they fight that Sony would have access to? Another problem with a S6 movie is the expensive f/x budget required.
