Like its already been stated, it goes to Spiderman 99 out of 100 times. Yes, Bats is totally a badass and has gone up against some of the sickest  and most twisted  individuals but Spiderman actually has super powers and an intellect that matches right up with Bats.

The thing is there would only be one fight when they initially meet due to not knowing each other, but they are both morally conscious people. They would both realize the others motivations and join forces instead of fighting. Although, Batman would probably find Parker's constant wise cracking pretty annoying.

When it comes to Spider-Man fans they don't get much bigger than me.  But I have to say I think Chad's right.  Spider-Man's gone toe-to-toe with the Hulk and even Thanos and lived to tell the story.

But against someone like Batman he'd be more restrained, be 'the nice guy', not wanting to hurt someone without powers.  And Batman, well Batman is batshit (pun intended) crazy.  The guy doesn't lose.  He always has a plan.  This is the same guy that always carries Kryptonite, just in case.  He'll be fighting to win while Spider-Man would be looking to end the fighting without anyone getting hurt.

I think Silversurfer said it best - you might beat Batman once, but never twice.

Give me a break.  I love Batman, but Spidey would take Batman down.  Likewise, Superman would have no problem defeating Spidey.

Great article, very fun read.

I have to channel my inner Comic book geek on this one though...

At the end of the article you said Batman can't be beat. (in Simpson's comic book guy voice) "I beg to differ!!"  In "JLA 1 Million" a villian broke into the JLA Moonbase, he had a program disc with data on all of Batman's moves / fighting style.  He ran into Batman in a corrador and they faught & Batman was handed his ass and left bloodied on the floor.

Now yeah without cheating (what villian is gonna fight honestly??) no one can beat Batman.

I'm more of the Nobody Beats Batman club. But as noted by Goldeneyz and Silversurfer, Batman's win would be in their second encounter after he's had a chance to learn from the first. The only way this would happen is if he (and Spidey) survived that intial fight...and this happens all the time for Bats.

How many new superpowered/superstrong villians has the Caped Crusader gone up against not knowing a thing with either the villian getting a chance to escape rather than fight or Bats just barely surviving. Then as everyone's noted the Dark Knight collates his data and makes bat guano out of them the next time. It would be the same here. All he needs is to get through the first unexpected meeting, and with Bats track record that has to be close to 90%.

Another great article. Come up with some more great Versus articles. I think I once suggest such things as Star Trek Klingon vs. Stargate Jaffa. Or Wookie vs. Orc.

In the past, Spider-Man's been beaten by the Punisher (which I thought was total BS).  But, Spidey also handed the entire X-Men their asses in Secret Wars (which may have been a stretch but I loved it).  Batman would have to fight pretty dirty to take Spidey down, which would not be a question for Bats to do.  Regardless, Spider-Man would come out the winner in the scenario you described.

Another vote for Spidey. Let's keep it real in this fictional battle, Spidey just has the edge pretty much all around and his Spidey sense is the last nail in Batman's coffin

And if no one can beat Bats, Superman damn nearly killed him in the prelude to Infinite Crisis mini OMAC Project.

I totally agree w/ the majority. ESPECIALLY when it comes to the movie Spidey, and movie Batman.

WHen it comes to toe to toe action, Batman has absolutely NO chance. SPidey is just way too quick and like 6 times stronger. Plus Batman only has like a few ropes he can throw around while Spidey has pretty much an unlimited amount of webbing to catch Bat's ass in a dominatrix position for a reaming.

And more yet Marvel homerism from the peanut gallery.  Can you people admit that a DC hero could beat any Marvel hero?  LOL, what a joke.

Wiseguy 10/8/2009 9:08:49 AM

We admit Supermam can beat most Marvel heroes but Batman ain't Superman.

You guys just need to get off that "nobody can beat Batman bullshit"
