Gotta love the passion these kinds of things inspire!

Obviously, could go either way. Can you conjure up a situation in which Batman beats Spidey? Sure! IF Batman gets to prep for the fight, maybe pick the battlefield, control the environment, bring specially prepared weapons. And maybe if Spidey ISN'T prepared. And can you conjure a scenario where Spider-Man wins? Sure. Pretty easily.

Lets face it, many if not most comic book fights involve a HUGE suspension of disbelief, even when you get beyond the powers the combatants wield. Given the strength of Spidey's webbing, why wouldn't he almost always use his speed and spider sense to stay away from his foe, while shooting webbing at him? Why wouldn't Iron Man similarly mostly stay at range and fire repulsors, etc, at foes until they fall? Why would Superman EVER slow down enough to allow most of his no-faster-than-human foes to even realize he is there? Why wouldn't a supervillain with a grudge against the FF take out the Torch or Mr or Mrs F via sniper rifle, out of the blue, from a safe distance?

'Cause none of that would be much fun to read, now would it? ;-)

Batman vs Spider-Man? No clue! Have at it, guys!

I think the Hulk could beat Batman.  :)

Thanks, Shadowprime! You said it all!

Wonder Woman would Flash her boobs and they would BOTH stop dead in their tracks.  Then she'd tell them "Dream on, neither of you are getting this." She flys away ( or jumps in her super friends invisi-jet).  Bats and Spidey throw an arm over each others shoulder and walk to the nearest bar to have a beer and talk over how Wonder Woman is  a total tease.

Spider-Man 100%.  Do you even realize what would happen to a normal human if they were punched or kicked by a creature that could lift ten tons?  TEN TONS.  Only Thor, the Hulk , and the Thing have greater strength than Spider-Man.  Shortly after he was bitten by the radioactive spider that gave him his amazing powers, Peter Parker accidentally crushed a steel pipe as if it was paper.  He crushed steele like it was paper.  Human bone and flesh are nothing to him.

You ever see a man get kicked by a horse?  That is just a normal horse.  Spider-Man could throw a horse or a car or even the Bat Mobile.  One punch, even one kick and Bat-Man would be hopsitalized or even dead.  Spider-Man can shatter a concrete wall with a single punch.

The physical force per square inch deployed by Spider-Man is almost inconceivable. Spider-Man would even whipe the floor with Bane's head. Why? Spider-Man has fought the Hulk toe to toe and survived.  Bat-Man would last all of two second against the Hulk or he would run scared.

Then he has his speed.  Spider-Man moves with a fluid and casual grace that can't be equaled by trained super-humans such as Captain America or Daredevil. He dodges bullets and energy blast mid flight, runs faster then a car and web swings faster then that, leaps from rooftops, somersaults over flagpoles, tumbles off water towers, and balances on top of light poles.  Spider-Man's reflexes were originally 15 times that of a normal humans, they are now around 18 times.   Good luck on Bat-Man hitting Spider-Man with anything.

Let's also not forget that Spider-man has night vision as well after the events of the "The Other"

Then there is his spider sense that would warn Spider-Man of any snak attacks that Bat-Man would ever have planned.  You can't suprise Spider-Man at all, ever.  That is just how it is.

Then on top of all of that he has a healing factor.  How fast he heals is unknown, but it is far faster than some normal human like Bat-Man.

And lastly I would like to adress this idea that Spider-Man is somehow hesistant to kick some ass if need be.  Because that is a huge load of BS.  Spider-man has kicked all kinds of ass in his day all over the place.

I really like Bat-Man but he would get his ass whipped by Spider-Man hands down.

I conceded to Batman losing the intial battle...I don't think he would be beat or a better way of saying it would be "taken off guard" by Spiderman again. Aside from being who he is, Batman hates to loose. Therefore intellect and technology would make sure he would be prepared "just in case".

I think this is the real interesting thing about Batman. In his way he represents us and is prepared to deal with the meta-humans/mutants in the event they got a wild hair up their butts and decided that TODAY is the day that I'm going to go bezerk on the planet. Also, it keeps everyone in line if there's a guy in the room who can take me out and I didn't really tell him how to do it...he figured it out on his own. One of my favorite lines strangely is from the New Frontier movie when he tells the Martian Manhunter: " I have a sliver of green rock for the alien, and for you, all I need is a match..." Classic Batman.

Spiderman is one of Marvel's most durable heroes, no doubt. He's has survived everything because of his abilities AND his intellect. At the end of the day, Spiderman lacks a killer instinct and that, to me is his greatest weakness....if he wanted to, he could wreck shop in the Marvel Universe and there would be few to stop him.....he just hasn't been pushed to that point....it would be interesting to see what would happen if he ever did....

Damn, Axia777! You and Spidey must be best pals :)

Yeah, Mr. SM is superhuman, but Mr. BM has fought countless characters of equal or superior abilities to SM before and he is still around. And as I said in one of my earlier posts , even when Bats is confronted with an unknown combatant with superhuman ablities he has almost always survived somehow to get to his Batcave and figure out how to defeat them. I guess I'm going by game statistcs like a fantasy footballer. Just going by his track record, if he survives the first encounter, which statistically he almost always does, he figures out how to defeat the new foe. Or as someone pointed out, he'll realize they are on the same side and they join forces.

I love these Versus articles!

@monkeyfoot:

I wish. :)  Nah, I have just read a metric ton of Spider-Man comics over the years.

I also think you are right in the fact that in the and neither would really fight each other because they would team up to kick evil's ass!

silversurfer, I think you underrestimate Spidey. Remeber when he got to Kingpin in prison and made an example of him, he did the kind of number Bats would do if not more by bloodying the fat guy. And why bring up killer instincts,  Bats hasn't killed anyone either, he just intimidates and makes you think he's capable but like Spidey he isn't.

That is what I said. Spider-Man has all ready kicked tons of ass in his day. People have this idea like Spider-man has never unloaded on anyone. Which it totally untrue. Spider-man has beat down lots of fools like including Green Goblin, Kraven the Hunter and so many more.
