Variety reports that no fewer than 15 movies are being considered for the 2008 visual effects Oscar. Not surprisingly, several comics adaptations are among them.
'Spider-Man 3', '300' and 'Transformers' are all under consideration for the January "bake-off."
Rounding out the list are 'Beowulf,' 'The Bourne Ultimatum,' 'Evan Almighty,' 'The Golden Compass,' 'Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix,' 'I Am Legend,' 'Live Free Or Die Hard,' 'National Treasure: Book Of Secrets,' 'Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End,' 'Ratatouille,' and 'The Water Horse.'
In January, the list will be narrowed to seven. Three of the seven will eventually get the nomination.
