In an interview with ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY about his summer release and Tom Cruise starrer MINORITY REPORT, genre icon Steven Spielberg invoked the name of two classics when trying to describe his film.
"If I had to make a blend, I would say it's like THE MALTESE FALCON meets RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK," Spielberg says, "with just a touch of madness."
Big words form the man who directed RAIDERS, voted by many as the greatest action film ever made. He also said REPORT was a film that relied more on special effects then any other film since CLOSE ENTOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, with 477 shots. Surprising, given only last year he released A.I.
The director also hinted that his films from here on out may not be as crowd pleasing as those that came before.
"I feel like I've given my life over to pleasing audiences," Spielberg told EW, "and I feel like it's my time to start pleasing myself."
