In an interview with the LONDON TELEGRAPH, MINORITY REPORT Steven Spielberg complained that despite the fact action director Jan De Bont has a producing credit on his new film, he did nothing to aide the creation of the movie.
According to the paper, Spielberg said De Bont, "never saw the movie ... never visited the set and never did any work on it at all. He simply had it in his deal that he was the producer. This is the whole thing about Hollywood deal-making: if somebody has a deal to be a producer, he doesn't have to show up, he just gets his name on the screen."
The deal may have arisen from the fact De Bont at one time hoped to direct the film, and had some development when Spielberg decided he wanted a shot. And who wins those disputes in Hollywood?
