If you clicked on that very vague article title, then you probably don't mind a little spoilers for Christopher Nolan's final installment of his trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises. With that being said, we'll say it once again.

There's potential spoilers in this article....

...

Are you still here?!?

Okay, let's commence with the story. Maniacs will remember back in early April when we received our only official word of a plot detail for The Dark Knight Rises with the casting of Josh Pence. When the young star was confirmed by the trades, there was a note about him playing a younger version of Ra's al Ghul via flashback scenes.

A short time later, it was reported that production began in Jodhpur, India and the first leaked set photo seemed to confirm that Ra's al Ghul's Lazarus Pit would be making some kind of appearance in the third installment.

We now have reports that a young Ra's al Ghul may not the be the only version of the character we'll be seeing on the silver screen next summer. The hard-working Drew McWeeny over at HitFix is reporting that another star has been spotted on set as well. One which we saw seemingly killed off in Nolan's 2005 reboot, Batman Begins. That would be Liam Neeson.

With Warner Bros. Pictures reps declining to confirm his involvement in the third film as of this report, it's up to you fans to speculate on why he's on set and how he will fit into the story. Feel free to sound off down below with your theories.

The "official" cast for the third tale is still Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, Josh Pence, Daniel Sunjata, Nestor Carbonell, Matthew Modine, Tom Conti, Joey King, Brett Cullen, Chris Ellis and Josh Stewart.

The Dark Knight Rises arrives in theaters July 20, 2012.

Can't wait. He has to be in it.

Eh... Either way. Could be pulled of really good and make a great story. I would pefer new villian new story. But there is something to be said about going full circle.

Could always show an early League of Shadows flashback, or since it is the Lazarus Pit we're talking, well, then I don't see any reason some LOS fiends could have found Ducard and grabbed his remains...

...although reanimation may be stretching believability juuuuus a tad.

And ha, just watched 'Next of Kin' the other day. Can't believe Liam Neeson played the most believable redneck I've ever seen.

In Nolan's real world Batman, cloning Ducard's remains would be  within the realm of possibility.

you know the best thing about rumors, you don't have to take them seriously. So, especially with this movie, until I see a teaser of some kind or Chris says this is what's happening, this means next to nothing to me.

I have a feeling that the lazarous pit is some kind of bio-nanotechnology that can recreate damaged cells...

The weird thing about the Nolan films is that mixed in with the reality is alot of impossible stuff, how the hell does he have such great control over those batlines for example and can one man REALLY take on a thousand in unarmed combat?

Also did ALL the League of Shadows ninja die in the first film?

If not, why did they not continue the mission, or at the very least take down the Bat?

Reality can be twisted as far as is needed, the only thing that we won't see is a Superman or Captain Marvel, personally I'd love to see Stephen Lang as Catwoman's mentor, Wildcat... Although he would make the perfect Deathstroke!

Until I see him on the IMDB page, he's not in it.   It's like what happened with Hangover 2.  Bill Clinton was on set and so there were rumors of him being in it.  Was he?  No.

Doesn't matter...  If they are going back to the multi-villian formula, then there is cause for concern.

Wiseguy 6/16/2011 5:59:12 AM

The real spoiler is Nolan and company coming back for a third Bat film

He probably never died.  And the Lazarus Pit is probably a baptism tub to Christen the successor of Rhas Al Ghul, the leader of the League.

Behind the scenes Rhas was pulling the strings to bring the destruction of Gotham.  The Joker is "in on the Joke," as a hencemen for Rhas, hence why he was so good at destabilizing Gotham - consider him one of the elite.  I think Gordon-Leavitt will end up taking over Ledger's role here.... and that will be the MAJOR twist.  That would also explain why the Joker didn't want Wayne's associate "spoiling all the fun," by notifying the public of Batman's alter-ego, he already knew.  He wanted Wayne to do it himself.

Bane, either as the new Rhas or as another elite assassin is showing up in this movie to bring down Batman, having the intel already that he's Bruce.

I summize we'll see Bruce broken before the end of the first act, and it's a rehab movie.... like Rocky 3 ^_^
