Walker and Christensen Digging BONE DEEP - Sep 05, 2008 - 02:28am
Oh it most certainly can be worse than Jumper. Having Hayden Christensen AND Paul Walker in the same movie is like squaring "awful" into "worst all-time"...

Eastman Reveals Live-Action TMNT - Sep 03, 2008 - 04:35pm
How awesome would it be to return the Turtles to their comic routes... I can't help but think it'd work well at the box office. Children of the 80's and comic fans alike would flock to see a more adult-oriented TMNT...

Sheldon Lettich Developing HERCULES - Sep 03, 2008 - 04:31pm
That's Zack Morris' ruski 2nd cousin. He starred in the hit series "Saved By The Sickle". Yeah, I can't take this project too seriously either...

Bruckheimer Overseeing Warfare in Pressfield's KILLING - Sep 03, 2008 - 04:28pm
Always and forever will loves me some WWII movies... Done properly, of course. Looking forward to watching this thing come to fruition.

Writers Begin Scripting POLTERGEIST Remake - Aug 20, 2008 - 02:23am
Wow, really? I don't really care one way or another about most of these remakes, but this is kind of getting ridiculous. At this rate they're gonna remake LOTR in 2015 ;)

Writing Team Begins on THE HOBBIT Films - Aug 20, 2008 - 02:19am
I wonder how long it'll take to make a decision on Bilbo. I remember the casting choices for the LOTR series were leaked WAAAAAY back in like 1998 or 99... I wonder if we'll get that kind of lead time for The Hobbit...

PRIMEVAL - Aug 19, 2008 - 01:30pm
I'll have to check it out, but the Premise sounds about a half step off from that of Torchwood... Not that that's a bad thing...

STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS - Aug 15, 2008 - 02:39am
So very disappointing to read this. I can't stand the number of missed opportunities we're seeing with Lucasfilm lately. Hopefully The Force Unleashed will give us a quality adventure in the Star Wars universe. We haven't had one of those in ages.

Mike Myers Joins Cast in INGLORIOUS BASTARDS - Aug 15, 2008 - 02:36am
This is a rather strange cast, to say the least... A director, two comedians, a writer, and Brad Pitt... Not exactly what I would have thought when casting a WWII movie. But I guess it's pretty understandable considering Quentin Tarrantino is fucking crazy.

Top Maniacal Rumors: Miller's Lantern, Mignola Hell and Super Paris - Aug 15, 2008 - 02:32am
How the EFF does Brett Ratner keep getting work???

New 2-D Art for PRINCESS AND THE FROG - Aug 11, 2008 - 03:21am
I can also appreciate a return to 2D... A lot of the newer 3D stuff from Disney is great, but for entirely different reasons than what made so much of their 2D stuff classic. Hopefully the younger crowd isn't too 3D-jaded to enjoy this one.

TV Wasteland: Torchwood Audio Episode? - Aug 11, 2008 - 03:18am
Loves me some Torchwood. I'll have to find a way to get a hold of the episode. Anyone know the status on a Series 3? Has the show been renewed or not?

DVD Review of The Inglorious Bastards (3-Disc Special Edition) - Aug 11, 2008 - 03:14am
Somehow I missed that IB was a remake rather than a spiritual tribute to Dirty Dozen... I guess technically it's both, but I had no idea there was an original. I'm gonna have to check it out.

Update: Pitt Confirmed and Office's B.J Novak Up for a Role in BASTARDS - Aug 07, 2008 - 01:23am
I pretty much hate BJ Novak simply because he was so good at playing a prick on The Office... it'll be interesting to see if he can play a different role and make me NOT hate him.

SDCC: 4 Minutes of CLONE WARS - Jul 27, 2008 - 01:59pm
Whatever. Some of the dialogue sounds to be a bit tacky, but when I watch the trailers for this series I find myself hopeful... It looks entertaining, and when you're talking about a CGI tv series as opposed to a $150m movie, there are certain things you can accept that otherwise might disappoint... The style looks good, the action looks good, and the overall story may actually be a fun, entertaining one. I may not see it in theaters, but I'll certainly be watching on TV.

Top Maniacal Rumors: More Turtles, Doom Love and Moore Dissent - Jul 25, 2008 - 09:20pm
Good news and bad news, hanso. Good news = a God of War movie is currently ramping. Bad news = Brett Ratner is attached to direct. Whatever news = David Self is currently writing the script. http://www.gamespot.com/pages/news/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=26508253&sid=6195031&action=convert&om_clk=latestnews&tag=latestnews;title;2

New Redband Footage for PUNISHER - Jul 25, 2008 - 03:38am
That footage didn't do much for me, especially after that much-discussed first redband trailer released a month ago. It did paint this iteration of Punisher much more as a brawler than a finesse/hang-from-a-chandelier type guy, which is good... But with amount of over the top violence and the visuals themselves I really just get that "B Movie" feeling...

Top Maniacal Rumors: More Turtles, Doom Love and Moore Dissent - Jul 25, 2008 - 03:32am
As a child of the 80's and a gigantic Ninja Turtles fan I'm glad to see a sequel is on it's way. The first one was actually pretty enjoyable, so I'll definitely check the next one.

DARK KNIGHT Fastest to $200 Million - Jul 24, 2008 - 03:21am
Err... I think it already lived up to the hype... You two just need to see that for yourselves ;)

THE X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE - Jul 24, 2008 - 03:19am
Disappointing to hear. I so wanted the X-Files to move past Mulder and Scully and concentrate on Reyes and Doggett as a "next generation" of sorts... But the producers and writers insisted on clinging to the overdeveloped mythology and the familiar - and tired- characters of Mulder and Scully. The fact that this movie not only centered on those two, but reverted back to a non-mythology story while casting someone like Xzibit just kind of screamed disappointment. I wanted to believe this would be good... but I guess it wasn't. Maybe I'll hop it and see for myself.

Batmania! Rise and Shine with The Dark Night - Jul 18, 2008 - 02:05pm
There was definitely an "In Memory of" message at the end of the movie near the beginning of the credits. I just wanted to say that the Dark Knight brought in $18.5m on midnight releases alone. That breaks the record set by EpIII and it doesn't even include 3:00am and 6:00am showings. This movie is well on it's way to bloodying the nose of Spidey III.

John Woo Takes on Comic CALIBER - Jul 17, 2008 - 05:59pm
I still haven't checked out Caliber, so I may have to find my local comic shop and give it a shot... (finding that shop is becoming increasingly difficult, though...)

Bay Talks TRANSFORMERS 2 and Horror Remakes - Jul 17, 2008 - 03:48pm
I just watched Transformers again the other day with my 14 year old cousin who hadn't seen it... Needless to say he loved it, and needless to say that as a child of the 80's I still love it. But... Some of the more "Bay-esque" things definitely started to get on my nerves, and while I rather like Shia LeBeuf, I realized that about 1/4 of his lines consisted of him saying "nonononoNoNoNONO NOOO!!!", which also was annoying. That obviously has to be attributed to LaBeuf's lack of acting/life experience in creating a believably frantic character on-screen, though, and I kind of think he'll get better at it in the future. That being said, there are also a ton of things I love about Bay's films... Namely the over-the-top, saturated cinematography. I've absolutely loved his style from the moment I saw it in The Rock (perhaps his only true classic, btw) and can't get enough of it. The guy also knows action, and for a movie involves 3 story transforming robots beating the mechanical crap out of eachother there probably isn't a better guy to handle it. I'll take the bad with the good, cuz the good is o so Transformerific. Also Megan Fox is even hotter on mute.

Update: First WATCHMEN Trailer Online - Jul 17, 2008 - 03:35pm
That was an effin badass trailer... Anyone that doubts Snyder single handedly created an incredible new style of film making with 300 only need watch that trailer to realize they're wrong. Awesome.

Box Office: HELLBOY Edges Past Hancock - Jul 13, 2008 - 06:47pm
I, for one, cannot see how Dark Knight won't bust Spidey 3 in the proverbial jaw... This movie has several things going for it... A ton of general buzz over the past 6 months... A legion of comic fans waiting in anticipation to see it twice... And a huge number of people that I'm sure will be drawn in with the whole Heath Ledger thing... Not only is it his last big performance, but it'll hopefully be his greatest. That alone could make up a big part of the difference between Wiseguy's $130m projection and the Spidey 3 mark of $151. And on Hellboy... $35m is a healthy haul. It's too bad the big ape faces Dark Knight this next weekend, though. Otherwise he could have made back about 70% of the cost of the movie in two weeks...

HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY - Jul 11, 2008 - 01:21pm
hanso - I picked that up after seeing it last night. Makes sense, although I could also see them just averting it entirely without a death or the end of the world... You know, Hollywood style...

HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY - Jul 10, 2008 - 08:22pm
The death of Hellboy? Hanso, I think even the Dark Knight himself would be hard pressed to pull that off... I'm pretty stoked to see the movie tonight. Gonna go catch a midnight showing for the 5th week in a row... Ahh, summer.

Redband Trailer for HELL RIDE Online - Jul 10, 2008 - 12:35am
Actually looks like something I'd wanna catch... Kinda lame that it's "Quintin Tarantino's" Hell Ride when Larry Bishop wrote, directed, and starred in it, but whatever. Looks fun. Plus it looks like there are plenty of naked chicks. Awesome.

HANCOCK: Superman III 1/2? - Jul 03, 2008 - 01:41pm
hanso - that's a little strange that it won't recognize bluray movies, yet will still play bluray game discs... Does MGS freeze or something? I guess that was something 2.40 was causing, but you have 2.36 so that can't be it... Reformatting might be the best bet, but I'd go onto maybe the official Playstation hardware forum or something and see if you can find a thread on the problem... If you can't find anything and reformatting doesn't work, then it could be a problem with the Bluray drive itself... But that doesn't seem likely since it reads bluray games... Sorry I can't help more. Strange problem.

HANCOCK: Superman III 1/2? - Jul 03, 2008 - 01:05pm
Did your PS3 brick, hanso? I've been through two lengthy forum posts on two different message boards, and so far I've seen over 1,000 people who have yet to have a problem and only about 6 total people who have had a problem... Most of those 6 are just having problems with games freezing... I think one might have had their system actually brick, and it sounded like it was a problem experienced while updating, not with the update itself... I, for one, have 2.40 and my PS3 seems to be completely fine.

HANCOCK: Superman III 1/2? - Jul 02, 2008 - 03:34am
I was hoping to be the first poster, but I'll settle for the third... I got back from a midnight showing about an hour ago, and I need to say that everyone needs to completely disregard the terrible early reviews and the rumors of disgruntled test audiences. Maybe it was my insanely low expectations for the movie combined with the likability of Will Smith, Charlize Theron, and Jason Bateman, but I totally loved the movie... My friends and I for the life of us figure out why the thing was so universally panned by test audiences and screening critics... It's funny, it's energetic, it's totally believable within the boundaries it sets, and everything is explained and everything kind of comes full circle... I was EXTREMELY satisfied by the end of the movie... MUCH more so than, say, with Get Smart. I really recommend that all you Maniacs completely ignore the critics and their completely unfounded dislike of the movie... Give it a chance and judge for yourself. You'll come away happy. And let me just say one more time that I have NO idea where all the negative rumors and press came from. None. The movie was completely entertaining. I'm not even sure I agree with the Mania review, which is decidedly less harsh than almost every other review I've seen. I thought that everything in the end held up really well. I didn't really feel that the end was uneven or that anything felt patched up. Everything fit together nicely.

First SOLACE Trailer Online Now - Jul 01, 2008 - 02:04am
The trailer got me all hyped up for the new movie... Almost as much as watching Hitman the other night and seeing Olga Kurylenko naked...

Update: New Trailer, Featurette and Clips for HELLBOY II - Jun 28, 2008 - 01:39pm
I'd be post numero uno if I hadn't gone out last night and woken up like 20 minutes ago... But whatever. If the lack of interest 'round here means a shorter line for me at the midnight showing then I'm all for it ;)

WANTED: A Ballet of Bullets and Blood - Jun 27, 2008 - 03:07am
Just got back... Wanted was awesome. There were a few things I could nitpick, but not much. It was a good story with amazing action and solid acting... a great ride overall. I haven't read the actual comic, but I definitely curious enough to pick it up and read it now. Great flick.

China & Korea Teams Up for HOST 2 - Jun 26, 2008 - 01:52am
Step 1, working together on a movie sequel... Step 2..... Step 3, economic dominance over the west!

SDCC Watch: Marky Max and Keanu Klaatu! - Jun 26, 2008 - 01:50am
Call me crazy, but Keanu Reeves may have made a better Max Payne than Marky Mark... Not that he's is necessarily a bad choice.

Tilda Swinton Joins Polanski's GHOST - Jun 26, 2008 - 01:47am
Nick Cage gets waaaay too much work. Way too much work. That's all I have to say.

E.T Clips of KNIGHT Online - Jun 26, 2008 - 01:45am
For those interested (that means pretty much everyone) here's an interview with Heath Ledger that may or may not be old news... Very much looking forward to seeing his performance. I'm sure it's going to be amazing, so it'll definitely be bittersweet. http://www.fhmonline.com/articles-6330.asp?cnl_id=3&stn_id=140&idx_id=4498&page=1

WANTED: A Ballet of Bullets and Blood - Jun 26, 2008 - 01:42am
Gonna be there for the midnight showing... Definitely looking forward to it.

Mandate Suffers Consequences in FAR AWAY - Jun 26, 2008 - 01:40am
Sounds interesting, but hopefully it doesn't end up being contrived or convoluted...

Nicole Ritchie Joining NBC's CHUCK - Jun 26, 2008 - 01:35am
I loved the first season of Chuck, but I hope they keep things on track. Casting Ritchie in anything seems a little gimmicky at best and a grab at ratings at worst... Plus I don't like her. All I need is plenty of Yvonne Strahovski on screen and I'm a happy camper.

DreamWorks Planning KUNG FU PANDA 2 - Jun 26, 2008 - 01:34am
As if there was any doubt. I still haven't seen Panda, but I'd like to. Seems like a fun flick.

CLOVERFIELD 2 On Hold, 300 Prequel Coming - Jun 26, 2008 - 01:33am
A 300 prequel... While I loved the visual style of 300, the story was also a big part in making the movie what it was... Not quite sure how they're gonna match that... Of course that doesn't matter, because I'd probably end up seeing it anyway. And without even seeing Hellboy II, I'm gonna say Hell Yeah to Hellboy III... I loves me some Hellboy.

Chris Carter Leading FENCEWALKER - Jun 25, 2008 - 11:00am
Wow... Chris Carter must really love Xzibit...

Universal Deals with FAMILY BOND - Jun 20, 2008 - 03:34am
I can't see this getting past MGM. A movie called "Family Bond" about a spy and his daughter? Too close, Universal. Not gonna work. Plus the thought of Bond forming a relationship with any of his numerous illegitimate daughters is almost laughable... Unless he mistakenly seduces... yeah, nevermind. That's just gross.

Top Maniacal Rumors: Leo America, Knight Time & Punisher Hex! - Jun 20, 2008 - 03:31am
I agree on Brad Pitt, ponyboy. I'm not sure if there really is a better A or B list choice in Hollywood at this point. Still haven't seen the first two Night Watch movies... fully intend to, though. Don't single out hanso... this is gonna be 152 minutes of Dark Knight goodness enjoyed by every Maniac, guaranteed. 11 episodes is cool, but I still feel like it's lame to split a full season of 20+ eps into two seasons... Either combine them into one or make two seasons of 18+ eps... Don't make us wait until next frakkin February for another season again... The less time Tobey Maguire gets in a movie theater near me, the happier I'll be. I think you nailed Jonah Hex with the Holloway choice, ponyboy. I can definitely see that working well.

The Manic Maniac: Why We Want to Believe in E.T. - Jun 19, 2008 - 02:45am
I have yet to see an actual video clip... The only video released has been that fake cgi reenactment, to my knowledge, and that was only 20 seconds long. Is there another clip that has been released?

Book Buzz: Puttin’ the Folk Back in Hellboy - Jun 17, 2008 - 03:28pm
I bet it's number 2, beat out only by the uproarious comedy "Space Chimps". Anything involving Space is usually a money maker. Anything involving Chimps is usually hilarious. Thus, anything involving Space Chimps will be a hilarious money maker. Right?

Downey Jr. Up for COWBOYS & ALIENS - Jun 17, 2008 - 02:58pm
Ponyboy, I did forget that one, thanks. It was beautifully shot... that movie definitely made me think about how glorious a new wave of Westerns would be...

Villain Clip Revealed for DARK KNIGHT - Jun 17, 2008 - 02:55pm
Pretty sure it does look that nasty... In the video you can just make out that stringy piece of muscle connecting his upper and lower jaw, and that visible gap in his cheek when he grunts... Gonna be friggin awesome. They should have just filmed Dark Knight and the 3rd movie back to back. The Joker card at the end of Begins was bad enough... Seeing Dent in all his Two-Faced glory is gonna make the wait for the next one unbearable.

Downey Jr. Up for COWBOYS & ALIENS - Jun 17, 2008 - 02:40am
This movie could definitely be ok, and RDJ gives it some legitimacy. That being said, I want to see more straight out Westerns. There just haven't been enough lately. 3:10 to Yuma was pretty good (aside from the wooden leg inconsistencies) and it did pretty well in the box office... I definitely think there's room for some successful Westerns.

Matthew Davis Joining DARKO Sequel - Jun 17, 2008 - 02:34am
There sure isn't any room for a Darko sequel... I'd be interested in seeing how well it's thrown together, but I'd rather them not make one at all. And Whiskeymovie, I think there's a pretty obvious "Number One" on the List of Hollywood's Worst Ideas... Continuously giving Nicholas Cage work.

Villain Clip Revealed for DARK KNIGHT - Jun 17, 2008 - 02:19am
Not quite. Nolan's take on Two-Face is a half-man, half Pizza the Hutt. You can just barely make out some of the pepperonis on his face.

Book Buzz: Puttin’ the Folk Back in Hellboy - Jun 17, 2008 - 02:16am
I sure hope Hellboy finds some legs and makes some money this time. I didn't realize the domestic pull was only $59m the first time around. The trailers look fantastic, though, and after Labyrinth I'm sure there will be plenty of people curious enough to check out del Toro's next offering.

Hulk Fight Breakdown: Norton vs. Universal - Jun 15, 2008 - 04:01am
Judging from the article, I can understand Norton's beef with the studio. Yeah, he seems to be a bit of a control freak, but when you're promised a certain amount of creative control by a studio it's completely reasonable to expect that promise to be kept. Marvel dicked him around a bit, which sucks, and as a result we're not sure if Norton will reprise his role as Banner. This, combined with Marvel's lowballing of Favreau on Iron Man 2, is rather disturbing. Not only that, but they've apparently left RDJ out of the loop, as well. You'd think that after drilling two movies out of the proverbial park they'd realize what the proper course of action was for future movie production... apparently, they haven't.

First Trailer for Anderson's DEATH RACE - Jun 14, 2008 - 09:15pm
Well, paint me surprised. darkheart already said it, but whatever... Fast cars, hot chicks, machine guns and explosions... I'm already there.

8-Minute Gotham News and Alt-Trailer for KNIGHT - Jun 13, 2008 - 11:32pm
What am I missing here... the only thing I see is a 30 second clip about "On the next Gotham Tonight"... Where's the 8 minute clip?

Perlman and Jones Talk HELLBOY II - Jun 13, 2008 - 11:23pm
Don't lop me in with the unexcited... I've been stoked about Hellboy for months now... Probably moreso than for The Hulk.

First Teaser Trailer for PUNISHER - Jun 13, 2008 - 03:39am
I dunno man, I just don't have a good feeling about it. Part of it stems from my raised eyebrow over the casting choice... Still haven't been able to lower it since I first read about it. You're right though... A minute of footage isn't enough, and it isn't fair to pass negative judgment on a casting choice without seeing him in action... But spinning from a chandelier with guns blazing and that "sometimes I'd like to get my hands on god" delivery didn't exactly send shivers down my spine.

Amanda Peet Opposite Cusack in 2012 - Jun 13, 2008 - 03:09am
These guys really really really love wrecking shit on screen... Independence Day, Day After Tomorrow, 2012.... We get it, you're obsessed with the world ending as we know it.

First Teaser Trailer for PUNISHER - Jun 13, 2008 - 03:05am
Why does it seem like every iteration of The Punisher is the wrong one? Is it so hard to get it right?

Perlman and Jones Talk HELLBOY II - Jun 13, 2008 - 03:03am
I definitely can't wait for Hellboy... It's the next big release on my radar.

THE INCREDIBLE HULK - Jun 13, 2008 - 03:00am
Just got back from the midnight showing... Really really liked it. I won't say love, cuz I loved Iron Man and this one wasn't quite as good... But it was still pretty awesome. I agree with most of what wiseguy said... Except for maybe the bit on Connelly, but that's mostly cuz I've loved Jennifer Connelly from the moment I saw her in The Rocketeer. Everyone I was with loved it, but there were definitely some people in the crowd that were missing the Cap scene already. I hope it eventually sees the light of day.

Top Maniacal Rumors: Iron Cheap, Raimi's Return & Beachy Turok - Jun 13, 2008 - 02:53am
1) Maybe all my comments recently about Marvel finally doing things right were a bit premature... Favreau is a MUST for Iron Man 2 and a SHOULD BE for Avengers... How Marvel can lowball/stonewall/cold shoulder him is completely beyond me. He is the single biggest reason for Iron Man's success... He directed it, ensured it stayed true to character and canon, and cast the ultra perfect choice as Stark... He has to be back for the next one. Period. 2) Whatever. I love Spiderman, but I hate Toby McGuire and Kirsten Dunst, and I'm not sold on Raimi after what he did in Spidey 2 and 3. Rejuvenate the franchise with new blood across the board. 3) Don't know much about Witchblade, other than the fact that it was turned into a terrible TNT show. 4) It was my understanding that Cap's presence was limited to the Arctic scenes, and that those scenes were cut, so it's odd that Leterrier made that comment. I just got back from seeing the midnight showing of The Hulk and I sure didn't notice anything (other than the Super Soldier serum, of course) 5) A Turok movie would be a Jurassic Park movie on steroids... So basically count me in... Unless of course they fool me into thinking the movie is over and then suddenly we're in San Diego with a T-Rex on the loose.

Another Clip of WANTED Online - Jun 12, 2008 - 05:02pm
That clip was a tad ridiculous, but I'm still gonna see the movie... The best trailer I've seen so far was that one in Russian posted here a few weeks back. No idea what they were saying but it was completely B A.

New Trailer For CLONE WARS - Jun 12, 2008 - 04:57pm
I can see that I might be alone in thinking this may very well be the best thing Star Wars to hit the big screen since the original trilogy. I'm definitely in line and I can't wait to see the series.

Ken and Ryu Missing From STREET FIGHTER - Jun 12, 2008 - 04:50pm
Moon Bloodgood is insanely hot. That is all.

Clooney Spying in THE TOURIST - Jun 12, 2008 - 04:47pm
Love spy movies as well, and Clooney is a solid actor who I'm sure will make this a good flick worth catching.

THE INCREDIBLE HULK - Jun 12, 2008 - 04:38pm
I was all 110% pumped to see this movie... until I read the comments here about a cut scene involving Cap and 70 min of cut footage... Now I'm only 105% pumped. Hopefully Marvel puts together a kickass Bluray release for this movie with the extra footage edited in (although it'll likely be a 2nd release about 6 months after the initial release... stupid Hollywood)

New Extended Clip for Pixar's WALL-E - Jun 09, 2008 - 11:24pm
Throw me in the same boat with you fellas. That little guy is totally endearing and I can't wait for his movie to come out.

TV Wasteland: Have You Heard of the Gemini Division? - Jun 09, 2008 - 02:56am
Rosario Dawson = hottest nerd ever?

Mazeau Penning GyllenHaal's Action MOON Invasion - Jun 09, 2008 - 02:52am
I'd love to see more Solar System sci fi flicks... We had a rut of movies about Mars, and Sunshine was a good enough movie, but it's about time for a new round... Exploring Europa or Titan, or even colonizing Venus' upper atmosphere... I dunno. I've always been intrigued by that kind of stuff.

Set Photos Online for Proyas' Sci-Fi KNOWING - Jun 09, 2008 - 02:41am
Rose Byrne = hot.

IRON MAN 2 Has a Lift-Off Date? - Jun 09, 2008 - 02:37am
2010 is so far awaaay... Damnit.

Platinum Planning Chupacabra ALIENS - Jun 06, 2008 - 01:57am
Sounds like a Sci Fi channel Saturday Night Movie...

Zetumer Ready to Pen Herbert's DUNE - Jun 06, 2008 - 01:55am
Perhaps Berg and Zetumer will learn from the mistakes of their predecessors. Dune is going to be a terribly difficult property to translate well to the big screen, but I still hope it can be done.

Favreau Talks About IRON MAN 2 - Jun 06, 2008 - 12:44am
Cap's shield makes a brief appearance in one of the scenes where Stark is getting his suit removed. http://www.firstshowing.net/2008/05/09/captain-americas-shield-found-in-iron-man/ You can see it below his right arm.

Top Manical Rumors: Tranformers Reborn, Super Girlfriends & Justice Delays - Jun 06, 2008 - 12:41am
1) No problem with Jazz returning. I thought it sucked to see him go so quickly, so it'll be cool to see him back. 2) Whatever on the Superman thing... More concerned with the amount of action. 3) Can't wait for Hellboy II. Don't know much about Death. 4) Speed Racer sequel? After the the first one completely and totally bombed? Don't see it happening. 5) Unless I'm mistaken, Ty Burrell is playing Doc Sampson. Doc Sampson is certainly not a villain. Am I missing something? 6) Just scrap this JLA movie already. Restart the whole damn thing with a new script and better casting. We don't need the WB's version of JLA on screen. 7) Green Lantern better NOT be a comedy. I think I remember reading Jack Black's name attached to this project at one point. Green Lantern has always been one of my favorite DC heroes, and just like Iron Man this year, I think it's important to do his character justice and bring him to the big screen in a fine dramatic fashion.

Favreau Talks About IRON MAN 2 - Jun 05, 2008 - 09:08pm
And then X-men 3 blew gigantic donkey testicles. Still, Spidey 3 and X-men 3 were made at a time that Marvel seemingly had lost interest in making good movies and were simply trying to sell a lot of popcorn. They've changed direction, so hopefully that won't happen again.

Guy Ritchie Leading SHERLOCK Mystery - Jun 05, 2008 - 06:32pm
Jeremy Irons as Holmes, Gary Oldman as Watson... Just throwin those out there. Also, for those who don't know, RocknRolla is gonna rule. Hopefully.

Heijningen Leading Army of the DEAD - Jun 05, 2008 - 06:21pm
Zombies are the worst. The worst what, you ask? The worst. Of everything. Period. I can't even watch a zombie movie without feeling like a scared little kid. And they aren't even real. The point is, it doesn't matter where the military starts. Las Vegas, New York, Dallas, LA... You gotta start blastin em somewhere. Goddamned zombies.

TRANSFORMERS 2 Has a New Title & Set Details - Jun 05, 2008 - 06:08pm
Speak for yourself, vampire. The first thing I'm doin if I ever catch some giant robots fighting is grabbing a six pack and perching myself on the nearest roof. One more note on TF2... I hope they don't bring Megatron back as the main baddy. Leave that for Part 3, the end of Part 2, or somewhere else down the line. Let Starscream take the reigns for a movie. Regular movie goers won't care and it'd give us TF fans something to smile about. Ah, who am I kidding. I don't care what happens, I'll end up seeing it and probably end up with the Bluray. I'm a sucker for all things Transformers... Well, almost all. The Japanified shit makes me vomit. (I'm looking at you, RiD, Energon, Armada, etc)

Favreau Talks About IRON MAN 2 - Jun 05, 2008 - 06:03pm
Definitely stoked about IM2. He's always been one of my favorite Marvel heroes, so it was awesome to see him brought to life in a big way by Downey and Favreu. Marvel really has an opportunity to do something right here that the fan community has been screaming for... Get some character continuity across different movies and different franchises. Avengers, Hulk, and Iron Man should only be the start. Marvel rediscovered that the key to profitability is making good movies true to the source material like Iron Man and (hopefully) The Hulk, and not terrible movies like FF and Daredevil. Hopefully they continue that trend and give us what we want down the line.

Condal Adapting Ellis' OCEAN Comic - Jun 05, 2008 - 05:55pm
haha that's EXACTLY what they are... Ok maybe not, but I like the sentiment... Never can have enough Bab5. I'm definitely interested in this, though. I haven't heard of it, but maybe I'll drop by my local library and give it a crack.

John Moore Remaking CAPRICORN ONE - Jun 05, 2008 - 05:53pm
Can't say I've even heard of this movie, but I'm certainly curious now that I have. I'll have to check it out somehow.

First Images Appear for PAINTBALL - Jun 05, 2008 - 05:47pm
Come on, guys. Everyone knows that the idea of going out into the woods and getting attacked by unknown killers has plagued the dreams of 10, maybe 12 paintballers out there. This movie is for THEM!

TRANSFORMERS 2 Has a New Title & Set Details - Jun 05, 2008 - 05:43pm
Agreed, the title is lame. I'd bet (or hope) that it'll change down the line sometime. And hanso, here's to hoping your last title won't be a good fit for the sequel. Maybe they'll get a clue and give us some wider shots this time and let us see the robots actually duke it out rather than give us a blur of machinery waaay up close.

Christopher Lee Agrees to Return to MIDDLE EARTH - Jun 05, 2008 - 05:00pm
I just saw a Wanted trailer on TV and came back to say that while I still don't think McAvoy would be a good Bilbo, I think he'd have made for a MUCH less gay Frodo. He wasn't even close to being on the scene when LOTR was first being cast waay back in 99/2000 though, so that wasn't possible. Also Perlman would probably be a pretty solid Goblin King. He'd also be a great voice for Smaug, but Del Toro has already said he has other plans for him.

Christopher Lee Agrees to Return to MIDDLE EARTH - Jun 04, 2008 - 03:03pm
McAvoy is a good actor, but I can't quite picture him in the role of Bilbo for some reason... Something just doesn't seem right. How old was Bilbo in The Hobbit as compared to Frodo in Fellowship? I thought he was older, and McAvoy certainly doesn't look it. I could be way off, though.

LOST: No Place Like Home Part 2 - May 31, 2008 - 02:52am
So I'm currently watching the two part finale, which was advertised as being 2 hours (minus commercials, of course)... The total running time comes in at about 1 hour 20 minutes... That's 35-40 minutes of commercials... I guess I just expected a bit more running length. Pretty good at about 50 minutes in, though.

Production Begins on Stephen King's CADILLAC - May 30, 2008 - 05:42pm
Nice to hear Christian Slater is still alive.

Berkley, Evigan Join DONNIE DARKO Sequel - May 30, 2008 - 03:31pm
Strange to see this posted today... I just had a WEIRD dream last night where I kept seeing that freaky ass rabbit when nobody else could, and he was always there to kill someone... And I haven't even seen or thought about this movie in years... Yeah...

Update: Who Could Be the New SPIDER-MAN? - May 28, 2008 - 01:21pm
I always thought Gylennhall should have been the original casting choice. I really really don't like McGuire at all. As everyone else has already said, he's a tool, and he's just Not a leading man at all. And ponyboy, Toby wasn't just doing that because he wanted to avoid autograph seekers. He probably just lost interest in the play, felt above the whole thing in left. The guy is completely full of himself. One of my best friends met him once at a private dinner (circa just before Spiderman 1) and she said the guy was just completely and totally convinced that he was the gods' gift to acting. Now, I've always disliked the guy independently of this story, but once she told me I was even more convinced that the guy didn't deserve the adulation of anyone. Anyway, topic at hand. Gylennhall would be a great choice, but somehow I get the feeling he's moved beyond franchise movies like Spiderman (maybe not seeing as how his sister is now in Batman). Gordon-Levitt actually seems like an inspired choice as a replacement, too. Gosling, for some reason, doesn't quite fit to me. Amy Adams might be a perfect pick for MJ, though, and I praise whoever came up with that idea.

TV Review: THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN: PART 1 - May 28, 2008 - 12:26pm
That's pretty much it, darkheart... The first part was boring, but it intrigued me enough to tune in for the 2nd part... My mistake. Waste of time. Part II was terribly and completely ridiculous.

New Set Photos for TRANSFORMERS 2 Online - May 27, 2008 - 05:22pm
I hate to break in on someone else's conversation, but it's pretty much impossible to have a $150m opening weekend in the UK. There just aren't enough people and theaters for that to happen. Even if that number is in US dollars, and the true number is somewhere around 70m pounds, that'd still be too high. That being said, I think I read the same article you're talking about, ponyboy. It was in the Telegraph, and it said that Indy 4 was expected to make $150m in the US over it's 5 day opening weekend (Thurs-Mon), not the UK. Maybe your article didn't translate that correctly?

New Set Photos for TRANSFORMERS 2 Online - May 27, 2008 - 01:49pm
Since that this thread has been pretty much hijacked, throw me on the "Indy 4 didn't suck" boat, too. I enjoyed it. As everyone has already said it certainly was the weakest of the 4, but it was still fun. Shia did a solid job, and Harrison was impressive at age 65 or whatever. I thought that Cate Blanchett looked sexy as the Russian villain, too (even if the villian wasn't a good one). I will say, though, that while I have no problem with tying in the alien mythology of the crystal skulls with the actual story line, I thought they just went way too over the top by the end. It needed to be much more subtle and involve mesoamericans much more than it did aliens. About T2, though. I thought Shia did a fine job in the first one and I don't have a problem with him being in the 2nd. I just hope that since he's got the first one under his belt that Bay feels ok with putting the Autobots and Decepticans in the spotlight much more than they were in the 1st movie... The movie is called "Transformers", afterall, and Optimus and Megatron should get a good amount of screen time.

Book Buzz: Starship Troopers Nostalgia - May 26, 2008 - 03:48am
Loved Starship Troopers... Still pop it into the DVD player once in a while. And while I never saw the sequel, I will say that I do own and enjoy Roughnecks: Starship Trooper Chronicles... That series was pretty darned good for a weekday morning cartoon and it was a shame they never got to finish it.

Redband Trailer for TROPIC THUNDER - May 17, 2008 - 09:50pm
A red band trailer is basically just another way of saying a Rated R trailer... Curse words, nudity, whatever... it's the kind you'll usually only catch on the internet and you'll never see in front of a feature at a theater. But I'm not sure about the verification process. I typed in a fake name, my real zip and birthday and it gave me that same message. When I typed in my real name, though, it actually worked... kind of scary.

JOKER Has the Last Smirk on New Banner - May 17, 2008 - 02:50am
200% stoked.

Redband Trailer for TROPIC THUNDER - May 17, 2008 - 02:49am
I'm not a huge Stiller fan, but I do like Jack Black and, like you two, I'm convinced that Downey is gonna completely steal this movie. I'm definitely in line to see this already.
