There was a planned online animated series that sounded really cool, actually.  Set in the 26th century, the continued use of warp drive (remember in Next Generation we found out that warp drive was actually damaging space?) has fractured the Federation in a few smaller Federations because there are vast expanses where warp just no longer works.  It definitely had possibilities.

You know SC that actually sounds like a great pitch, that could work. Could be called Star Trek: New Frontiers or something like that. Have a new class of starship with Slipstream propulsion instead of warp.

 I remember they were finally going to have single person Federation ships also, a la Star Wars or Battlestar Galactica or Babylon 5 or most ANY other sci fi show for that matter...lol

It would really awesome if they introduced Q into this universe.

No it wouldn't.  Q is such a powerful character that there is no way humans could beat him.  All Q episodes were basically about Q showing up, messing around with people's heads and then deciding to go away on his own.  He was not a satisfying opponent.
