It happened with the 2009 relaunch of the Star Trek and it will happen again with its sequel. Comic publisher, IDW, will be releasing a prequel comic to Star Trek Into Darkness that will bridge the two films. The comic, “Star Trek Countdown to Darkness”, will feature the Klingons. Below is a picture of issue #4. Look for this mini series in comic shops come March.
Star Trek Into Darkness, starring Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jon Cho, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Zoe Saldana, Alice Eve and Anton Yelchin.

In it the klingons using borg technology reverse engineered from the Romulan civilian mining ship, that some how got massive weapons because they had to explain it in the most over the top way possible because they don't think things through, with this new technology they set out to invade earth by having one of their own placed on earth to infiltrate a decimated startfleet and get the codes to the Earth Defenses. fade to black wait for the movie..
That is of course all made up but it wouldn't surprise me.
