Paramount has decided to shuffle around their major theatrical release schedule now that the WGA strike has officially ended, reports Variety. Their highest profile move is the upcoming Star Trek adventure getting a push from Christmas Day to May 8, 2009. Studio insiders attributed the move to financial reasons, indicating the J.J Abrams-directed "Trek" has a higher gross potential in May.
They've also moved the upcoming Ben Stiller comedy Tropic Thunder from July 11 to August 15, 2008 and shuffled Martin Scorsese's thriller Shutter Island to Oct. 2, 2008.
Variety reports these as the first three but expect more changes in the lineup for Dreamworks and other studios.
