Dude why do you keep putting this s#!t that reminds how old I am? I get that enough from my 12 year old kid, "did they have DVDs when you were younger daddy?" Sheesh!

I think someone mentioned this, but the only episodes they could chose from were Season 1 episodes because that's the only season they've finished upgrading to Blu-ray. Most of the effects have been updated and enhanced so it should look damn good.
Wow, twenty five years. When TNG premiered, it was my absolute favorite, must see program. I loved the characters, the stories, the FX, all of it. I took a great amount of joy from the show back when it was originally airing.
These days, that's where I choose to leave TNG- in my memories. Like so many things from my younger days, it just doesn't have the same shine today as it did back then. If I have to hear Geordi talk about inverting the power to the main deflector array while venting the drive plasma to allow the ship to escape the latest mess they've gotten themselves into, I will go mad.
We totally got screwed at the last AMC event for Casablanca on the big screen. Messed up right at the beginning. Shut it down. No apologies. Just a boot to the door. We actually had to make a fuss to get our money back. Kind of gives you pause.
So, now that this version of Star Trek has reached a milestone...I say it is time for a Next...Next Generation on TV. Future episodes with a new cast and crew aboard the Enterprise. You can have both and the ongoing action adventure movies with alternate universe Kirk and Spock. Hey, it is working for Sherlock Holmes. And, that character is much more limited in scope.
Sorry SinCity, BOBW is just not the same joined as single story, you just have to have the cliffhanger at the end of part 1. I've seen BOBW as a 'movie' and it loses something when joined together. Riker says fire and nothing happens to the Borg.
But you can have Yesterday's Enterprise anyway as it is a great story too.
Shame none are season 1.
Oh the UK BD goes on sale a day before (23 JUly - 24 July) the US version. Wasn't expecting that. It's usually a few weeks or months later.
Nice to see that Amazon UK have done their usual trick of mashing together the 7 disc DVD description and reviews (both slimline and original plastc case editions) with the 6 disc BD content list and reviews turning it into one godawful mess.
Yeah...pass.
TNG was something I loved 25 years ago. Unfortunately in the time since I've change and I've discovered much less pretentious and preachy series that actually have characters with some defined backgrounds (as opposed to Star Trek's "I actually majored in advanced bioplasmatic entities from an alternate time/space dimension, it just has never come up over the last 6 years) and who suffer consequences for their actions.
It was a fun time and place but I don't see myself ever going back.
I think the best way to celebrate the 25th anniversary (and yes, makes me feel old too) would be to begin a new series.
